You’re right, It’s cursed and no place like it.... take a good look, behind these demonic rituals there’s poverty, disease, sickness and famine. Read the holy scriptures and you’ll find out why and it mostly has to do with witchcraft and occult practices just like this video
@skylinemusik14 жыл бұрын
@Steve Bingham can you send me the scripture where people that were not followers of Jesus were casting out demons????? Please send it to me because the only ones who casted out demons were his disciples and because he gave them the authority. There’s a verse where non believers in Jesus that were actually Jews tried to cast out a demon in the name of Jesus but the demon asked “who are you? I do not know you, I know Jesus and I know Paul but you I don’t know” so then the demon attacked him and left him in bad shape
@skylinemusik14 жыл бұрын
@Steve Bingham yes but those casting demons are actual believer and followers of Jesus Christ that disobey and have their own agenda either for riches or stealing or anything that has to do with evil doing that will face the Lord when they pass away and he will Deny them. No where in the scriptures does it say that unbelievers casted out demons but actually says that unbelievers will be in trouble if they try to cast out demons if they do not have the authority

For example, in your mentioned Yoruba/Dahomey area, they have many ways to refer to it: "okpe", "jijere", "omuti ebo" etc. In my own language it's a whole different set of long phrases which indicate a variety of the process. Thanks for doing this video. As a little boy I spent some of my summer vacation and Christmas breaks in Porto Novo and I have always wondered what is this masquerade called zangberto. Though I enjoy every bit of this vlog of yours, I will still keep wondering what is in it. On the cultural side, thanks for exposing more people to our culture. You rock! NB: if you could make it to western Nigeria some day, I would love for you to also document Igunnuko (very tall masquerades but but could reduce itself to a flat sheet of clothing) festival. I also wonder what is inside).

At 18:24 if you slow the video all the way down you can see his feet moving underneath it. The trick is when they turn it over if you'll notice you can't see all the way into the top of the structure. What they do is yell at dude inside the Beto that they are about turn it over and he hops up in the top of the structure and grabs on and as they tilt it over the guy in the Beto pulls his feet up into the structure and simply holds on until they pull him back down. They have people on the outside if you'll notice always to make sure they don't run into a crowd of people because they can't see. None of them can walk alone without a guide outside tell them to stop or slow down or speed up.

There is a person inside. The people were yelling They can see legs. They( the helpers) guide the cones and setup the reveal. They keep tapping the outside giving the person inside time to climb into the inner layer. Then they flip it. Showing the small inner circle( where the "drivers" feet come through) and where the operator can pass out the treats. Then when the operator is ready a bunch of guys lift it back up. Which needs multiple guys because the operator is squeezed between the outer and inner ring making it off balanced and heavy. And of course they talk. They need to know where to dance and when to hide for the flip reveal.

The zangbeto phenomenon is real. Spiritualism explains it as a materialized spirit within the costume. In true cases, there must be a medium of physical effects nearby to provide the essential 'fluid' (also called ectoplasm) for the phenomenon to occur. This doesn't mean that there aren't cases where the whole ritual is faked, to attract tourists. The real phenomenon is true, but quite rare and demands special circumstances to occur perfectly.
