For example, in your mentioned Yoruba/Dahomey area, they have many ways to refer to it: "okpe", "jijere", "omuti ebo" etc. In my own language it's a whole different set of long phrases which indicate a variety of the process. However, this tradition is uniform throughout coastal West and Central Africa.

At 18:24 if you slow the video all the way down you can see his feet moving underneath it. The trick is when they turn it over if you'll notice you can't see all the way into the top of the structure. What they do is yell at dude inside the Beto that they are about turn it over and he hops up in the top of the structure and grabs on and as they tilt it over the guy in the Beto pulls his feet up into the structure and simply holds on until they pull him back down. They have people on the outside if you'll notice always to make sure they don't run into a crowd of people because they can't see.
