Greetings Alex: I am a retired family doctor. I did my training in the 1960’s. The medical devices that you showed, from: 8:50 to 9:10 min, an antique obstetrical calipers (used to assess the size of the maternal pelvis, prior to delivery, in the days before more sophisticated imaging techniques were available) and the glass syringe is, I believe, an irrigation syringe, possibly for cleaning wax from a patient’s ears.

If nothing else, the lesson here is to check your basement for water damage once in awhile. I don't go to my basement all that often but this makes me think I should more often.
@scottstewart3884 Жыл бұрын
the water damage doesn't always come from a flood either. Concrete isn't water proof, so small amounts of moisture seeps through and over the years can cause that kind of damage as well.
@shinyshinythings Жыл бұрын
Not only that, but for important health reasons, any time there may have been a flooding event the house needs to be checked for water damage and mold growth remediation. Old folks’ homes should be checked at least annually if there are hidden or inaccessible areas, because the mental damage black mold does is no joke.
@shinyshinythings Жыл бұрын
@@scottstewart3884 Great point. Bad roofs can also be an issue - the interior ceiling of an attic can completely fill with black mold and no one in the house would be any the wiser if the attic is never opened. But the mold spores are invisible and insidious.

4711 is famous in Germany, but more for the perfume and less for the soap. My grandmother always had a miniature bottle in her purse to fresh up with, especially on hot days.
