Based upon what you've said about not wanting to take dirty hoarding houses, I was surprised you took this job. I hope you're able to donate some good things to those families and get your money back with a little profit. I'm glad you're being safe with the gloves and mask.

Greetings Alex: I am a retired family doctor. I did my training in the 1960’s. The medical devices that you showed, from: 8:50 to 9:10 min, an antique obstetrical calipers (used to assess the size of the maternal pelvis, prior to delivery, in the days before more sophisticated imaging techniques were available) and the glass syringe is, I believe, an irrigation syringe, possibly for cleaning wax from a patient’s ears.

Hey Alex! Ok, I'm curious.....what was in the locked top portion of the metal cabinet? You only opened the bottom locked door. Also, the separate large "envelope-style" dividers in the "paper work" holder could certainly hold "paper work" with $20, $50, $100 printed on them ;)
@TekmanRO
@TekmanRO Жыл бұрын
I wonder if you ignore the "paperwork" altogether or just don't want to open it on camera to avoid accidentally showing personal information. Sometimes you can find valuable stuff like bearer form stock certificates and the likes.

i believe he goes thru it off camera, hes been doing this a long time and has found very valuable things in the most random places, when it comes to paper work i think he does it all off camera...he also sometimes will leave a little something that was a real find for the last episode :)

If nothing else, the lesson here is to check your basement for water damage once in awhile. I don't go to my basement all that often but this makes me think I should more often.
@scottstewart3884
@scottstewart3884 Жыл бұрын
the water damage doesn't always come from a flood either. Concrete isn't water proof, so small amounts of moisture seeps through and over the years can cause that kind of damage as well.
@shinyshinythings
@shinyshinythings Жыл бұрын
Not only that, but for important health reasons, any time there may have been a flooding event the house needs to be checked for water damage and mold growth remediation. Old folks’ homes should be checked at least annually if there are hidden or inaccessible areas, because the mental damage black mold does is no joke.
@shinyshinythings
@shinyshinythings Жыл бұрын
@@scottstewart3884 Great point. Bad roofs can also be an issue - the interior ceiling of an attic can completely fill with black mold and no one in the house would be any the wiser if the attic is never opened. But the mold spores are invisible and insidious.

Alex, I think you did find a whole set of pyrex. If I remember from the previous videos, you found a red 'Fridgie' and a blue 'Fridgie'. The small red, the small blue and the bigger yellow Fridgie all make up what's called the primary set. Actually, I think you need two reds, but you're close. That's about a $70 set online. I forget whether you found one or two reds.

You drove me crazy, son! You set that Pyrex dish on a chair that could have been bumped and crash! Same with the Corning ware lid that is also very important for resale. Those lids are worth more valuable than the dishes these days down here in Florida. Also why didn't you keep the globe in the Styrofoam? I assume the box was too nasty. Again, I was anxious but that's how old ladies are. This has been an interesting endeavor but so sorry for all that water damage. I hope you break even on this one.
