We are visiting small towns along the #Algarve East coast, searching for a house in Portugal, to see if maybe we change our mind about living and buying a house in a resort type of establishment.
We are fairly sure about what we want, (we fell in love with the resort we are buying into in 5 minutes since we first saw it) but we heard so much about how you shouldn't stay in a resort, that we decided to investigate this option too. Better safe than sorry!
Later edit: Sao Bras de Alportel, Cacela Velha and Cabanas de Tavira are all very good options and we will make separate videos about each.

Portugal's Dirty Little Secret: I am sitting at a cafe in Tavira overhearing a conversation between two young women. One just came to Portugal to take care of her grandmother who was assaulted and robbed by the small Tavira Real Estate Agency she was renting her apartment from. I am hearing more and more of these attacks on retirees coming to Portugal during the last year. I no longer go near any small real estate agency in Portugal. I have heard of similar incidents where retirees have been attacked east of Albufeira in areas like Quarteria and Olhao. I only use the large reputable companies. I guess that should be the case with most businesses today. I hope this practice doesn't spread to other parts of Portugal.

It's 30 minutes from the coast not an hour.

It's not true that Sao Bras is an hour or more from the coast. I live in Sao Bras, and there are lots of beaches that is 20 to 40 minutes away.
