Search and Survival

Near the end of my most recent search for Oldfield, in the Gifford Pinchot, I came across a series of odd discoveries, including some very large, gorilla like tracks. They certainly made me think of the legend of Sasquatch, but these ape like tracks are nothing like typical Bigfoot tracks you see people claiming they have found. They certainly made me think twice about the myth.
Apologies for the shaky footage in this video. I took my camera stabilization rig back at the rig so I could cover more ground to search for Austin, thinking I'd find nothing of interest. I was wrong.
In the fall of 2015, Austin vanished in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest

• Searching for Austin O...
RECAP:
After hearing years of reports about people who seem to disappear into the wild, I decided to dig a little deeper.
On August 6, 2016 I set out to find Austin Oldfield, who has been missing for 10 months. Austin left Kentucky for a month long camping trip in the Cascades Mountains, not far from Portland, Oregon. Before he vanished, two hunters witnessed him acting strangely.
I trace his last known steps and set up a grid to comb the forest for clues. His disappearance caused me to ask- Why did Austin disappear? What where his motives? Where might he have gone. How can I avoid hazards on my own adventures?

I first heard of the case from Mr. Paulides concerning Austin. I wish I could help look for these poor people but I can't, work, family. I pray you stay safe, Maybe one day, I will be with you searching, looking hoping to help locate a missing person. Those families need more people like you Sir. I wait in earnest and am with you in spirit.

I found your site and have spent all afternoon watching all your videos. You amaze me. You seem to be a genuine and honest person. I feel privileged to be able to be with you on your journey. We all have demons we have to battle. My prayers are with you while you battle yours. Also to see if you finally admit bigfoot is real and you are not crazy for believing. Hope to see you on your bike soon. God bless you and your family.

Thanks Debbie. I'm glad you are enjoying my channel. So much of our lives is digitally edited these days. It's possible to look like someone we are not, if we wish. I decided that if I created a KZbin channel, it would be as genuine and organic as possible in this digital frontier, warts and all. Thanks for your prayers. We'll see about bigfoot. I like to keep an open mind though. Hope to talk with you again soon.

LOVE all your videos, you are such a great person for what you are doing !!!!❤☀ You're not crazy, do you know how many people have not only seen them but experienced these big fellas. I'm one out of 1,000's if not 100,000's. I work in the dental field and am a navy veteran. I'm not crazy. Many professional people see these guys including law enforcement and especially dnr officers. We have been programmed by society to not come forward because of scrutiny, made to feel like we're crazy. My first experience I was 8yrs old in the blackhills of South Dakota my dad saw this female sasqautch also and that would not be my only encounter or experience. Stay open minded. I know it can be a hard thing because of what were taught to believe by others. And the total paradigm shift you go through. Wait until you experience them and you know something is following you or right behind you but nothing can be seen with your eyes. It's frickin crazy I know. Wait until you experience them when they surround you and escort you out of the woods. That's trippy and scary. You should remember this always have love in your heart because they will mirror your feelings right back at ya. If your scared they will also be scared and that isn't a good thing. You always want to be in a state of acceptance and love. God Bless

Wow good eye. You found some interesting tracks in that crazy-dense, wet forest. A few of those tracks were very weird. I've been online trying to find an animal that leaves tracks like those you found..There are bear, who have a big roundish print. But I found that those tracks you found there (with what looks to me like an opposable thumb) look scary-similar to a massive gorilla! It takes skill and a sharp eye just to find shit like that. I just wanted to say I really like your search for missing hiker videos and you interview with that really interesting lady Ochenah. You had such an interesting talk with her I really enjoyed watching. Please keep researching this sasquatch subject, I like your perspective and hearing your thoughts and experiences on the subject. Thanks stay safe -Mark

Thanks, Mark. It was really disturbing to find tracks like that, rather, it is disturbing. I plan on searching some more for Austin next week, around a small rocky peak near by where someone might take a fall. I think I have someone lined up to go with me this time. I'll keep an eye out for tracks too and see if OchéNah is around.

Rat and Cat take plaster of Paris in case you find tracks, also if you have a flashlight turn it on and lay it at heal take video and then from side it helps illuminate the track to see better on film. Also go armed.

I can't remember what state it is, somewhere in the northern mid-west, but there were many sightings of what people believed were sasquatch, but turned out to be an actual tribe of gorillas, so it's not too far fetched that that's what those tracks could have been. You're a better tracker than I am, I'd have never seen those tracks to begin with, though I would like to say that it seems to me, that it's possible that someone else could have found those clothes and put that tape around it as a way of confirming the location. I can't think of any other reason why it would be there otherwise. Although I am, personally, a rather oblivious person, I am also a rather quiet one. With my head down while walking through the woods, I have actually bumped heads with deer before, neither of us, apparently, paying the least bit of attention where we were going. Yet we didn't really startle each other. We gave each other a type of "Oh...excuse me," type of look, turned our course and walked away, with no greater interaction than that. On the few occasions that this has happened, I've raised my hand in a "Hello" greeting before turning to the side and walking on. I've come in close contact with skunks with the exact same interaction. Other than these, I haven't come across many other animals in the woods. I would like to think this more of the Grace of God than mere luck. There are few times that I ever forget to ask the Lord for protection while traveling from one place to another. I highly recommend praying for protection, and in the name of Yeshua before traveling anywhere. The Lord truly protects you. Be safe in your travels, friend. Yeshua Be With Us All.

You mention Sasquatch in this video, I have been a skeptic most of my life, until I had a couple of unexplained incident. Both incidents involved rock throwing, a rock of about 20 pounds, give or take a pound or two. One bounced off my windshield, the other hit in a pond near where I was stopped. The final thing was the branch that was nearly 8 feet long and almost 6 inches thick. Now I look at the possibility with an open mind. - - - //es//A 70y/o Avid Outdoors Lady.

At the point you said that you didn't want to be one of those crazy people... First thing I thought of was the psychologist who encountered one while hiking with his family in the Pacific Northwest. He was taking a leak when it walked into view about 50 yards from him, he freaked out and charged down the hill he had trudged up to urinate, to get to his family because this thing that towered over him, and he's like 6' 5". He got to his family and the Sasquatch musta got spooked by him cause the psychologist never saw it again that day but he became a part time Sasquatch Hunter, even though he got the shit scared out of him by it and his version of reality fell apart that day.

Awesome videos all around. For some reason your brief intro music and video to each video of yours makes me strangely uneasy. Has anyone said that before? It's not easy to describe- but it's a feeling of fear mostly...... probably just me. I think it's mostly the music but collectively, the music and scenery are very powerful for such a brief piece. Well done. Definitely evokes emotion.
@RatandCat
@RatandCat 6 жыл бұрын
Tee Kay, my music and stories tend to be a bit reflective and melancholy. Also, I try let stories tell themselves, letting the natural drama of the serious stories I'm telling unfold, rather than trying to hype things up. Maybe that is what you are feeling? I have people tell me they like the music and don't like it when I occasionally don't use it.
@teekay9553
@teekay9553 6 жыл бұрын
Rat and Cat, I was speaking about the introduction to your videos exclusively. The brief music combined with the animation, rathe than your letting stories unfold naturally. I am oddly ambivalent about the music, I like it but it does have a somber melancholy tone. Add to that the animation which implies the vanishing of someone, it gets to me. Keep in mind I'm more "emotionally" reactive than most. Great job on everything you do.
@RatandCat
@RatandCat 6 жыл бұрын
Tee Kay, yes, that music is supposed to make you feel slightly not at easy, but not scary. So many people think of living in the country or going into the wilderness as pure living, simple lifestyle, easy going, and it can be all those things. But Rat and Cat looks at the struggle to survive, the darker side of nature, the primitive soul that needs to survive.
@teekay9553

Yes, and you do an effective job at reminding people that the wilderness is just that, "wild", and therefore unpredictable I think. Your videos definitely serve a great purpose, for many, it seems, go off into the great wild woods thinking mother nature will take care of them. As we know, that's a huge mistaken belief that can result in all types of tragedy. I appreciate the inherent danger in all the planets components, whether it's surfing the oceans, hiking/exploring the mountains or just taking a walk on trail. Dangers abound in the form of other humans, all sort of wildlife (which can include other humans), weather conditions and who knows what else. Keep up the good work of reminding us all of the unpredictable conditions that may await us in the nations (and worlds) forests.

Saw those clothes in your previous video. Seems odd that someone would leave their clothes out there (unless very scared or mind altered), but doubly so, since authorities did not collect them. Do family or friends recognize them? DNA? I do not get it!
@RatandCat
@RatandCat 7 жыл бұрын
It could be that the clothes fell off somebodies backpack accidentally, and then they were hucked off the trail, out into the forest by another hiker. Looks like they are female, so no females missing in this part of the county... that had clothes with them anyhow. As far as DNA, that's just for higher profile cases and TV shows. It's more like the wild west here :)

Hi Rat/Cat, awesome vidios! Just came across them today. Feel like I've been out there in the rain with you tromping thru the forest. What fun! I like your thoughtful way of thinking. Your respect for the native americans, 1st of all. And people in general, the wilderness.. Hope you continue. I admire your Intellect and the compassion you have that takes you out in the forest, away from your family, in the rain, to look for a man lost in the wilderness. May God Bless you. Hope to find any updates that may be out there re: Mr. Oldfield and you. It's now 1 year after you made these vidios.. Hope you got new boots, rain pants and unclogged your purifier! When you right, your right. This is quite possibly the worst video I've ever taken. I didn't have a tripod with me at the moment, plus it was very difficult to see the prints if I held the camera still- they just blended right in. I needed a 3d camera... or plaster to take a print. I kinda thought... oh well. No one will believe me anyhow.

There's NOTHING crazy about believing in Sasquatch. I'd say it's a lot more crazy calling all the footage and sightings "bears" or people wearing gorilla suits in the middle of nowhere when you can clearly tell the difference between bears and Sasquatch. I get it you haven't seen one for yourself but that absolutely does NOT mean they are not out there. Sasquatch are as real as you and me. I'm confused about the intentions of your videos. Are you looking for Sasquatch or trying to find that missing man? Either way I think in your spare time you should definitely spend some time researching both David Paulides and Sasquatch.
