I used to work for sears in appliances. It's sad how they run things there. They only worry about numbers, like not even the sale. You have to stuff protection plans and credit apps down people's throat and if you don't get a certain amount you're called in at 6 am for a conference call. And now that JCP is carrying appliances Sears is closing another 50 stores.

This video validates what I've been saying for 15 years...American businesses (Coporate Business) think they are providing great customer service....Nothing could be further from the truth. If Upper and Middle Management would spend more time on the sales floor and not the board room, they would then learn first hand what their problem(s) were...Corporate America needs to be Proactive in their management styles not Reactive...Bad Strategy!

Service is always senior to selling. And even if there are 'service people', they must firstly fully understand that this is 'people business' and not just running around like headless chicken, ignoring what is important and what can be delegated. Love your rants, Grant. ;)

I have done with the savings accounts I have which are tied to my stock options. Yes there are plenty of ways to make money with savings accounts if they are active. Explore the marked or speak with a financial advisor and you will see the gains.

Sears sucks I was about to buy a tool set and it took forever nobody addressed me I tried taking it to clothing department they couldn't get the security lock off. So eventually tired of waiting 20 minutes for these people with a coupon and one employee going back and forth between customers and then skipping me when I was in line next to go back to the coupon people when there was other employees that could have jumped in and helped. I just put the tool set down and walked out. Went to Farm and Fleet bought a better tool set craftsman brand still for $40 more and much happier.

I can't blame the Sears employees. Sears customers for the most part are idiots. The employees should run and hide. Too exchanges, obscure parts that aren't made any longer. Yep, Sears customers are extremely needy.

DONT BE WEAK MINDED! To a few of the post I just read @ Metaltildeath & cardonisafag you can tell allot about someone when they leave comments like yours and I don't know if your momma held you to much or if your daddy didn't teach you enough about whats right but here is a good lesson: don't get in the way of someone that's trying to help I don't see what the problem is maybe just the fact that you don't like someone to tell it like it is. Don't be afraid of change as long as its in the right direction, Just don't get on here in a comment and try and right some wrong done to you maybe you are one of the ones he is talking about don't get your feelings hurt we have all been there... I find this refreshing someone to be totally honest and tell it like it is. Americans have gotten soft weak minded less is more kind of attitude not all places are like this but as a society we are stronger and better than the customer service Grant got on this video! YOU don't like it CHANGE it. Then maybe this man wont feel the need to wake up a giant like Sears I mean come on grow a pair try telling someone just how it is stop pulling punches just be honest if for no one else but yourself. If you want to know how to do this let me help you WATCH MORE GRANT CARDONE

I'm a former employee of Sears in Southern California. I agree the company is in the gutter, but not necessarily do to customer service. Other internal issues are causing greater profit loss. Speaking personally, when I noticed a customer in need I walked up and asked them, sometimes being told they could figure it out on they're own. Did I mention I work in the tools department and most of my customers were men? I have the same belief, when I go shopping if I need your help, I'll ask for it, and I don't always want the help. When I want to be waited on, I go to a restaurant.......not a department store........in this case if you want a waiting service with your shopping experience get a personal shopper. The company no longer values its employees and they are getting it from both ends. Think about that

I agree, Sears has been in free fall for the last several years. It is sad to watch the slow death of this once proud American Icon. The only thing I don't agree with you is why you were buying Kardashian clothes.

I do know a Sears employee. He managed to sell a BUNCH of washers to customers and did real well at it. However, lately he's been getting in trouble for helping customers and getting in trouble for not helping. From everything he told me, it sounds like a no win situation... When it comes to service, sometimes it's management.

While I agree with Grant that customer service continues to decline, I disagree that it's the sole reason for the decline in sales. All brick and morter stores have been suffering a decline in market share due to the explosion of online shopping. There is a convenience factor of being able to just turn on your computer and buy whatever you want without leaving the comfort of your own home. It's what killed Border's Books. It's why anchor stores in malls are shutting down nationwide..and why the older model of a big mall with anchor stores is becoming extinct. Sears is a big brick and morter store and everything they sell in the store, they also sell online. There's massive online competition and Sears has continued to lose market share because of that and other factors. The customer service problem is inexcusable. But they can't afford to provide a Nordstrom level experience while they're hemorrhaging money.

I used to work at smaller Sears back home. Before Best Buy swooped in in 2002, Sears was your go to place for electronics. I worked at Best Buy from 2003 to 2005. I switched over to Sears and completely turned the electronics department around, using the sales tools I learned from Best Buy. The products were a generation behind. We put all of that on clearance and ordered the new HD tv's. Nothing by the way was set up for HD. So, I store purchased brand new HDMI cables and completely upgraded our department to HD. Our sales 10x in the short time I was there. Until 2 managers, 1 from lawn and garden, and the other was loss prevention, came in and fired me while my managers were gone that evening. They fired me because I price matched amazon.com. The customer was going to buy from amazon.com unless I matched their price. I was doing whatever it took to make the sale. They saw it as taking a loss. By the way, we still had profit in that TV. Not only did that customer pay 1k for a brand new tv, he also bought a new AV receiver, extended warranty, cables, and a new surge protector. It ended up being a 2500 total sale. This is why they are failing. They don't know how to keep good people. I went from making 9 an hour at Best Buy with no commission to 20 an hour on commission while working at Sears. I caught the attention of the regional manager because of the huge sales spike and was set to have a meeting with him a week later so we could implement my techniques in the other Sears stores.

I'd like to share my recent experience with our Sears Warranty on our dishwasher. We paid a lot of money for the 3 year extended warranty. Our dishwasher stopped working over two months ago. We have 4 appointments with a repair technician. The first two, nobody showed up and nobody even called to tell us. The next two, they failed to repair the dishwasher. Now, we are told they can't come out to try and repair it again until December 27th. This is horrible customer service and Sears should be ashamed of themselves.
