100%, ff14 is a great example for this. You can still use them, but it can't be promoted/talked about, or you risk getting banned, so it's the best of both worlds.

I've been thinking about this for a while, they could add "Addon Free" Realms, which also means no bots. Imagine how nice these realms could be. I do love dmg/heal meter, blizz could add their own dmg/heal meter. +bonus we get rid of the elitest cause they join addon realms

I knew that add-ons were a problem 15 years ago, in WOTLK when I had 300,000 gold from doing GDKP, and my RL friend never leveled past level 20 and had millions of gold and was selling his gold to gold sellers. He made his gold with auction house add-ons that would auto buy low and sell high.

The only combat addon I use is classiccastbars. I have all purple,, orange or pink parses. No dbm, bigwigs, WAs. Most classes don't really need them if you open your eyes. It also helps that the rogue rotation is stupid easy at the moment.

I took a break during P2 and came back to to Gnomer in the last few weeks and yeah it was hard getting people to accept me without a log. luckily I was able to do it with my guild.

Just FYI main reason blizzard doesn’t ban addons is is because most of the player data they get and rely on comes from the mod hosts so they will never get rid of addons it does too much of the work for THEM

Im with asmon on this. All addons should be banned. Just think how much toxic behavior would be gone with it. Like such a simpel thing as the dps meter. And its just bad game design if u make raids based on ppl using addons

Alot of games punish you for wiping/losing all lives etc. Why is it this huge issue in wow that you "might waste 40 minutes" when you people mostly waste 1/2 your life playing wow anyway? Helldivers 2 has a mission structure that can last 40 minutes +. If you all wipe you get nothing, no samples, no currency, no xp. Its a waste of 40+ minutes and no one behaves like you people do in wow. Personally I think its because you people don't see wow as fun anymore, its a chore and a job so when you waste time its a huge deal. Where if you are having fun you don't see it that way. @@neoikake

This addon has been made by the community several times over but wcl got it removed bc they didn't have permissions to use their api. I think it would be fine if they weren't trying to monetize a stolen idea.

Thats one reason for not liking the great server crunch. Crusader Strike US when i was scouting it when Chaos Bolt was being killed, CS was the first time i've seen PUGs LF "Purple Parse Only" then the second server had more selling Summons and ports. Wild Growth is just super lame, warlocks camping Fel Scars, Spam chat, and elitiest. Chaos Bolt had a sense of community. But now i'm in a place I dont have that. On top of it I'm a black sheep in my guild, and dont have friends. It super sucks.

The game was funner before addons. Looking forward to a single player version of WoW, the MMO magic is pretty much gone. I remember running MC without addons, geared up in greens not even having all my spells, and having the best time…Nowadays you need to be pre BiS full consumes world buff yadayadayada, every raid needs to be a speed run, I don’t even have time to loot most the time lol…

There was never a point where we didn’t use them! If you want proof I can provide KZbin videos from 14 years ago when we still used them! And before weakauras there was addons to tell us when mechanics where happening ! And that is because the Backend was always accessible by the players

I don’t think it’s a good add-on, but I don’t think it will make much of a difference. People who are going to look at logs can already look at logs. This just makes it easier for them at the $25 cost. I don’t think a lot of people are going to get this add on and I don’t think it’s going to change the game, if they ever make it free, I think it would have a greater effect

I’m not really sure this addon is a huge deal. I think paying for addons is dumb as hell and it’s def breaking tos so it shouldn’t exist (same with rested xp that every streamer shills out a link to) but people can just type your character name into Warcraft logs on second monitor and have the same results

Since the dawn of addons, I always hated them in WoW just take a look at PVP/PVE on live most have 10+ addons just so they can PVP/PVE at a high level rather than let skill do the talking I never really respected any high-level player from that point moving forward.

Yeah that raid parse addon is toxic and regarded, pardon my french. Rested xp is an addon I've never been interested in, it basically turns you into a robot to press buttons since the addon plays the game for you. The fact that people pay for it is insane to me. I love QOL addons like questie, auctionator, atlas loot, damage details, swing timer novabuff, etc. The only addon I use that makes me feel kinda gross is gathermate lol

Why is there so much hate for log checking/this archon addon and others like it that have existed in the past? They just make the process of forming groups with closer skill levels and dedication easier. If people just put as much time and effort into learning how to play then as they do complaining about those who do, they wouldn't have issues getting into good groups. There's so many resources out there for how to play every spec that exists in the game, so many guides, and logs which literally show you the exact differences between you and any other player. It's this weird entitlement and victim mentality where people think they're owed entry to every group when they don't put in what everyone else is. It's basically just the sbmm/ranked mode of this game so it's strange to me that it's controversial to say this. Especially with world buffs it's more important than any other version of the game to find others on the same level as you. I play casually but just can't imagine being mad that others don't want to waste their time doing the same if that's not their preferred way to play. I've tried repeatedly to think of reasons why this would be but the only two I can come up with are bruised egos and a desire to be carried without being willing to admit so. I'd understand if the raid literally didn't let you enter if you performed bad previously but the only thing being gatekept is better performing groups, which would blacklist you anyway if you came in and played poorly so all it's doing is saving people lockouts, time, and frustration. That being said, I think it should be baked into the game or just be another free addon like the rest of them.

Parsing in classic however isn’t really skillful, it’s raid comp, world buffs, and the raid catering to you. With 6 PIs etc, so many things you can do to cheese the parse rank

Big agree, if im pugging in retail and i see someone getting carried or extremely underperforming, i’ll stay until we wipe one or two times then im out and finding a better group. It seems like people are basically arguing for LFR which was tried already and removed. The reality is if people are going out of their way to create a group, they are going to try to create the best group they can.
