+rallyseb Its hard to really evaluate them when the game stutters and you have to use pedals that plug into the T300 / supported single wheel base. Then you cannot tweek FFB or wheel settings or FOV properly and then you cannot play the game on three screens. So it might have a good physics engine underneath everything but its hard to see behind all the game console gubbins and simplification.

I’ve played this game and unless you play with a wheel this game is impossible I couldn’t even complete the first race until a few months ago

I’ve been a lot of places looking at reviews and people are tripping! I decided to try it out today, yes 2022. 6 years later because all I played was Dirt. The game is basic in terms of sound, environment and a whole lot of stuff but i’ve mastered the cars, i can slam the acceleration and not end up in the bushes! If you’ve played Richard Burns rally then this should not be a problem at all. The graphics for the car itself is so-so, I can live with that. I now have some 10+ cars in my garage but career progression takes time because the game is hard. Coming from Dirt, this is a step up, even for a 6 year old game. It’s a sim, compared to Dirt which all of them felt arcade to me. The problem is that, when people cannot control a car they automatically slam the game for being bad. I’m playing with a gamepad, i’ve understeered a bit but once you’ve mastered it, the game be becomes satisfying. This to me, is a very good sim.

If you force 60FPS with VSync it eliminates all stutter. That made the game a lot more enjoyable to me. :) Also use 900 degrees in logitech profiler and 540 ingame made steering fine. Still a bit too much understeer some places

+Ouvert trees are an important part that make a good rally game.... its not a rally game if the textures can't give you the feeling that you're tasting bark, after you run into a tree.

yes I strongly feel there is not enough attention on simulating photosynthesis and real time leaf changing ... Nah, enviroment is important .. no question there ...

In my opinion this falls closer to a spiritual successor to the ralliesport challenge games than a dirt rally competitor

i thought it was just me lol, the first thing i noticed about this game was the track foliage and tree variety and placement didn't look like a copy and paste job, really love the Loeb experience mode too!

I feel like the game gets a little bit too much hate. Yes, there are HUGE issues (lack of multi controller support for example) but still, it's not THAT bad like many say. About the performance: my framerate is pretty good at medium settings with everything else enabled (110fps~ on a overclocked i5 2500k and a overclocked gtx 970). Oh, and let me copy paste my comment on another video were someone was claiming Dirt Rally had more stages. "The stage number in Dirt Rally is only big because they're re-using the same map for different stages (reverse, short 1, short 1 reverse etc.). For example, Monte Carlo has 12 stages on 1 1/2 unique locations (1/2 because it's the same map with 1 route change halfway through). For comparison, Monte Carlo in Loeb: 8 stages on 4 unique locations." edit: 1:39 that's not the case in multi stage championships.

Milestone always gets a perfect compromise on physics and playability. Often sims are too complex for their own good and fail to actually represent reality. My gripe with Milestone is that they end up failing to realise the potential of the great racing feeling, their games do feel low budget, and unrefined.

I dont think milestone is after full realistisk driving games.they are more for that mix thing They do games the way they feel is the best and most fun way for the players

+MK3424 It´s still not right. In german with have an own letter for the vocal: "ö". In french it´s spelled "oe" but just the same in this case. It´s very close the the first "u" in furniture.

very disapointed with you, i'm not agree with couple of things that you say in this video. -Bad trees? then you should hate Dirt rally.... they are much much harders and smallest... -physics? not the best, but in asphalt for example, they are much more real and natural than Dirt... -3D models? not bad at all but Dirt rally is so much better - Yes i had stuttering and low framerate all 30h i've playing, they will fix it in a couple of days. -Codriver? the best experience i ever have in a game -tracks? so good and real, IMHO little bit better than Dirt. So i know SLRE is not perfect but it comes from Milestone, don't be negative!! I will keep playing Dirt because is a good game, but SLRE is not so bad... I have like 30h on SLRE and 140h on Dirt Rally, so i know what i'm talking about... Cheers and sorry for my english

I play the game with t500 and th8a plugged via usb to ps4. the ability to have stand alone shifter was patched in.

+Hugo Stiglitz He didn't even hate it, simply pointed out its shortcomings. One of which is that it is a bad port to PC, and seeing as he is a PC gaming guy... I would say that is a valid criticism. I am a little unclear about your last line. I understand that you like SLRE, but do you have DiRT:Rally? I mean DR isn't out yet on the PS4.

deadstump I thought he would have but he didn't shit on it too bad but he also did gloss over the physics a bit. The physics deserve a lot more credit. This is a milestone game after all, not a true sequel to RBR. They've done an amazing job I have a PC too and I've been playing Dirt Rally for months. I'm just saying I like SLRE more than DR. DR is really bad on tarmac, Especially the FFB I'm more used to RBR which is equally great on dirt and tarmac. SLRE has that in common with RBR

I was looking for your review of Loeb (the game, not the naked baby). It does look like: Loeb is popular, rally games seem popular again, there's money to be made. And let's make it sell more targeting the casual gamer, Loeb fan that has mostly gampads, not real steering wheels. Am I too harsh? I like to think the devs have actual passion for rally and would prefer to make it more like Richard Burns, but it's that pesky accounting department that induced consolitis. Perhaps it's specifically targeted to kids that like to watch Loeb on TV, have a gamepad and no driving licence or experience. I'm not really sure, but it's not the Dirt Rally crowd.
