@@ovm4404 In 1976, several drivers, including title contenders Niki Lauda and James Hunt, tried to get the the Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji called off due to torrential rain before the race. They felt it was too unsafe to drive. However the race went ahead, and it's widely believed it was too satisfy tv contract obligations. Often cited as an example of F1 putting money ahead of the wellbeing/safety of drivers.

Jules was a genuinely nice person. Got to meet him at the 2013 British Grand Prix thanks to my paddock pass. Just the most humble and kind bloke. I was heartbroken when i found out he had died.

@@sofie9563 they’d been thinking about introducing something like the halo even before jules’ fatal accident. but they decided to properly look into putting it on and the halo was born. the same season it was introduced (2018), someone crashed into the back of alonso (i forget who) which caused alonso’s car to fly over charles’ car, and had the halo not been introduced, it would’ve been fatal. some drivers and other team members had been against the halo even when it was introduced but that incident happened and it changed everyone’s mind very quickly.

He is wrong, an accident like that is possible to predict and therefore the risks could have been mitigated or eliminated.
