This video shows some parts of my trip from Dresden to Köln, in the Ake Eisenbahntouristik travel.
I had the pleasure of traveling into the driver's cab, it was an amazing experience, my first travel into a locomotive, and one of the most wonderful and amazing locomotives: the BR 103.
I want to say thanks to the entire crew of Ake Eisenbahntouristik, and thanks to Jens Kuhlemann, he was the driver this day.

BR 103...schönste E-Lokomotive der Welt!!!!!!! Das Designe ist finde ich immer noch der Hammer!Schade um diese schöne Lok,das sie nicht mehr oder selten fährt.

Hello! Yes, most beautiful lok in the entire world i think! It's very sad that a few BR103 are in use. And most sad have to pay A LOT to take this kind of travels! :)

BR 103 and the Belgian 1800 from the late sixties (French SNCF CC 40100) are for me the most beautiful e-locs in the world, can't choose between them :)

@@henktittel3588 Thank you. One of the most intelligent comments on the whole of the internet ! I travelled to Belgium and Germany just for NMBS/SNCB 18 (CC40100) and DB 103. I used to do London to Koln to Bonn to Koln to Bonn to Koln to Bonn to London in ONE DAY to see how many DB 103s I could get. Sadly all of my SNCB/NMBS 18s were between Brussels and Oostende, so I never enjoyed them on 15kV AC in Germany or 25kV AC in France. I know the DB 103 is faster and more powerful, but personally I prefer the Belgium 18. I also think the SNCF CC6500 should get an honourable mention. I also travelled further east in Germany in search of DB 232s / 234s, but that required an overnight train or a flight to Berlin.

Meiner Meinung nach ist die 103 die schönste Lok der Deutschen Bahn. Leider geht jede Ära vorbei.

schön war se......aber auch laut, Winter kalt, Sommer heiß, zugig, eng im Führerstand und Maschinenraum.....kein schöner Arbeitsplatz....

welch eine Seltenheit, eine BR 103 im Dresdener Hauptbahnhof zu sehen... what a rare moment seeing a BR 103 at Dresden main station...

That driver is a very friendly man. I spoke to him lots in 2010 when the Köln-Hamburg IC service was running with 103184.

Spitze!!! Die Mitfahrt war bestimmt ein "amazing" Erlebnis! Interessant ist auch die Anfangssequenz mit dem Lokführer im schmuddeligen Arbeitskittel, der draußen an seiner Lok herumfuchtelt und mit einem Bahnmitarbeiter über ein Problem fachsimpelt. Später im Führerstand aber wieder in schickem Hemd ;-) Toll ist auch, dass Du viele Details festgehalten hast (Instrumentenbrett, Lokinfos, Lokführer bei der Arbeit...). Also, ganz große Klasse! (by the way an "Max weiß": unruhige Kameraführung ist heute modern... selbst in Hollywood!)

Die 103er war das beste was man damals hatte. Die Kräfte dieser LOk sind unschlagbar. 50 KN Anzugskraft ist absolut phänomenal

it was only lucky, i was in the middle of a trip taking photos and one staff guy ask me if i wanted to take a ride inside the cabin.. a dream come true. Best regards,

Wonderful ride with that famous vintage train. Nice impressions from drivers cab and wagons. Cool coincidence with the meeting of the green vintage electro-loco with the green wagon. Classic meets classic! :) Thumbs up and many greetings from Mega

Hin und wieder sehe ich die BR 103 auf der Rhein Strecke Koblenz Bonn über Andernach noch fahren. Da ist sie vorm IC als Zugpferd im Einsatz.

Hab leider nicht die komplette Lok Nr. auf dem Bild bekommen, hatte leider nur ein älteres Händy zur Hand, um Sie zu Fotografieren. Es war ein Zufall, das ich die BR 103 antreffen konnte. Hatte sie trotz alle dem 2 mal in Andernach angetroffen. Ich versuch das nächste mal die komplette Lok Nr. aufnehmen zu können. Gruß aus Andernach am Rhein.

I had to paid for my ticket in this train, very expensive, i was the only young man (the trains was full of old people). I think this is my first and last time in this luxury travel type! The trip into the cabin was only lucky.

I met him two years ago in Juni 2018 in Dortmund HBf. We spoke about this video and he was very friendly and he remembered that day. At that time he drove a 110.

Jaaa und der Flaschenöffner ist auch noch da :) So weit ich noch weiss, ist der dazu da, den Taster zu "halten", dass der Lüfter nicht dauernd läuft, oder so... *schmunzel* Super!!! Ich hatte auch mal das Vergnügen, kurz auf dem Sitz des Lokführers platznehmen zu dürfen, als sie in Unterfranken (Ochsenfurt) waren. Mitgefahren wäre ich noch lieber... ;) Der Lokführer ist echt n super netter Typ!! Und die 103 ist auch meine Lieblings-E-Lok. Schade, dass sie sich so selten mal hierher verirren. Hoffentlich werden ein paar 103er noch lange betriebsbereit gehalten. Super Video und Danke fürs Miterlebenlassen

Yes, it was a very nice coincidence the meeting of this old locomotive, maybe you know what class is? I made this trip only to travel in this Rheingold Train, it was very expensive but i thought "i can this only once in my life" :) Thanks for your comment, i'm always waiting for new videos from you. The Loco 103 184 is out of service since March 2012. Her current status is spare parts donor for 103 113 and 103 235. Current vehicle-location is Bw Lichtenfels, Bavaria.

ich bin zwar 15 Jahre alt, aber ich finde das die Loks BR 110, BR 111 und viele andere Loks die älter sind besser als so ein quatsch von BOMBARDIER

Hello Sebastian! Sorry, but I don't know the class of that loco. But it looked pretty old. The coach was old, too. Maybe something from a nearby railway museum. A ride in the drivers cab of a 103 is really a "once in a lifetime" chance. Thank you for watching my videos and greetings from the Rhineland! :) Mega

Unless you're a train driver of course. A trio of 103 units were put back into regular service, so a regular Fahrer could get to drive it himself.

It's my favourite locomotive. A beauty. The last i knew, 2 of this locomotives are still running in Germany, BR 103-113 and 103-245. In 2014 i had the pleasure to visit Stutgart, and i saw BR 103 113 (Check my video of this locomotive). I wish you someday could visit Germany to see one of this machines!

ICE High Speed trains have their origins with the E03 running 200km/h trains between Muenchen - Augsburg during the 1965 IVA (Internationale Verkehrs Ausstellung)!

Weil im Laufe der Fahrt vermutlich auf einigen Streckenabschnitten gar keine Oberleitung vorhanden ist und die Diesellock zum Einsatz kommt, oder andere Variante: Die Diesellok dient als Reservelok für steile Strecken zum Nachschieben oder muss mit dem Zug überführt werden ins Bw Köln.

In Leipzig fuhr man ja rückwärts in den Kopfbahnhof ein. Als Rangierfahrt ist das ggf. auch ohne Lok/Steuerwagen am Ende möglich. Mit Fahrgästen aber nicht. Kopfbahnhöfe werden gerne romantisiert. Aber verkehrlich sind sie leider ein Betriebshindernis.

10:47 Weiße Tischdecken, Tischlampen (sogar DSG-Blumenvase) - so sieht ein stilvoller Speisewagen aus. (Schade, dass es schon die 70er-Jahre-WR-Polsterfarben sind und nicht mehr die grünen aus den 60ern.) Zum Glück zeigt heute wenigstens die Tschechische Staatsbahn CD zwischen Berlin und Prag noch, wie' man so was gepflegt macht.

Wheely, thanks for your comment. That was my lucky day, only once in our life i think. This trip was made (in the most part) for older people, and i was almost the only younger man taking photos and videos like a crazy man. In the trip to return to Köln, one man of the crew asked me if i would like to travel into the locomotive.. Amazing :D

Das lag daran, dass bei unserer Ankunft am Leipziger Bahnhof die Lok vor dem Zug stehen muss, damit der Zug "rückwärts" ankommt. Später fuhr der Zug nach Koeln. (google translator)

Yes, sadly it was a photography camera and not a video camera, it hasn't auto balance system..

Von aussen ganz nett, aber als Arbeitsplatz grausam. Laut, zugig, ausgeleiert und immer war irgendwas defekt. Ich musste die Kiste leider oft genug fahren....Lieber 8 Stunden mit der 141 um den Deister als einmal HH-KK-HH.

Danke für deine Nachricht. Es ist wahr, drinnen ist es laut! Vielleicht war der Innenraumstandard zu der Zeit, als sie geschaffen wurden, akzeptabel.
