Pete Maravich of LSU holds the all-time NCAA Division I records for career scoring (3,667) and average (44.2). His three consecutive scoring titles from 1968-1970 are also the three highest single-season averages in NCAA history. Think about how long that record has stood!
@rks5457 Жыл бұрын
No one will ever break that record because no coach will ever let their player take 40 shots a game, especially if they're shooting below 45%. Both because the coach doesn't want to lose games and no good players would want to play with that person lol. Also no one is staying in college that long anymore. All you have to do is look at the amount of 30-foot shots that he was making. I would say a large percentage of his shots were 3-point range and beyond. In today's game, he would be tearing it up for 35 points a game if he wanted to. Julius erving and he were both on the Atlanta Hawks won year, and they played each other in one-on-one all the time. Dr. J said that the hard part about guarding Pete, is that he was always checking it up from 30 ft plus and it couldn't be stopped. And when he went out there to guard at 30 ft, Pete would blow by him for a dunk.

That's exaggerated. He definitely was not shooting most of his shots at range. And his already poor fg% wouldve tanked more had he done so.
