I’m a former engineer from Saab. I have a neat feature for you Saab guys. If you have a 9-3 SS You can have auto opening of trunk. On the right side under the rear trim in the trunk where the spring is attached to the “swan neck” hinge of the tail gate. Detach the spring and attach it from left to right instead from right to left. (Don’t remeber what it is from beginning). We actually durability tested this and it passed. This fix never made it to production, but I always did this on my own 9-3 SS. Just push the key FOB trunk key and the tail gate will auto open. The handling forces of the trunk will also be very less, almost free weighted. Take care!

Hmm. I'm 99% sure the trunk my (now sold) 9-3 SS Aero opened when clicking the key. Does this mean it was modified to do this?

The first "secret feature" really saved my 9-3 (and possibly myself) whilst taking a turn on a snowy forest road driving to work one time. Man, I miss Saab. They were so ahead on many features and details, I hope Nevs can produce something in the coming years.

Chilled gloveboxes were quite popular in Europe at the time. I never knew Saab had them, but I do know Citroën had them. I don't get why car makers don't offer the boot to have its own climate control zone. Would be really practical to chill your groceries on a hot day.

Here is a feature no one has mentioned. If you have the car off and key in the ignition, if you hold down the "line" button on your keyfob while in the ignition, the SID will tell you how many keys are programmed to the car, and if your key that is being used is a regular key or valet key. Awesome feauture if you just bought one and want to make sure there are no more keys out there programmed to your car!!

I’ve owned a Saab 9-3 from 2006 for 2 months now and I always thought that the button to adjust the brightness of the instruments was in fact for the cruise control. But since the control for that is on the left handle near the wheel, I already found it so strange to have a second button for that. At the same time I was a bit disappointed to not have the possibility to adjust the brightness of my instrument panel. How wrong could I be 🤣🤣 So a big 👍🏽 for this video. To the accessory button you can, for example, buy a Saab plug&play harness kit with a relay that you placed in an pre-installed open relay slot in the fuse box in the engine compartment and that makes it quick and easy to install extra high beam lights in the front (button then is for on/off extra lights when the car is on high beam). It’s an option that is quite popular in north of Sweden. Original fitted smart slot is intended to be used for credit card etc. For the next video you can show how to see the engine oil quality, how to use the coming-home lights and how to program the ACC unit (see user manual)

Comfort windows/roof. On the convertible (I believe the Arc's and Aero's) you had the option to open and close the top including the windows. By holding the open it close button on the key fob. Variable boot space: My old 900ng and 9-3 convertible had a standard option in which you could raise the compartment where the roof actually folds in to, so you had more space. Coming home: Flick the high beam when you are parked and the low beam will turn on for 30secs. And all the little aviation hints that are included in every Saab model. Got to love those!

On the earlier 03-06 9-3's, the mid-level radio (that you installed). You can go through a settings menu and select a genre of music to listen to. It will scan FM to find stations with that coding and stop at the first one. Kinda nifty, but really only if you're on a long roadtrip and the channel broadcasts the data. The clock can also be set via RDS instead of manually.

One secret feature that I can think of that you have not covered in this video, but I am sure you will in another video, is the rear lights (fog button). 5:40 Don't have that in my V70, but I do have electronically adjusted seats that, with the press of a button, can also change my mirrors if I have the settings saved. So, right now, I use the 3rd setting. If I want to adjust it, I just move it and press "MEM" (Memory) and it will overwrite my last selected setting. If I press "2", however, it adjusts my mirrors downwards and my seat slightly upwards. It's my "parking setting" so to speak since I usually sit relatively low and quite far back. It's a 2006 model, though, so it's not that old, but we Swedes love our small details and driver comforts.

One you didn't mention. The Saab automatic doesn't need to have a 'Sport' button to adjust where it shifts. To me it seems that it adjusts when it shifts based on where the accelerator pedal is. Floored will take you right to the red line; down but not all the way, it will shift at a higher rpm; and if you're just accelerating slowly the shift will be early and smooth. I have a button on my '08 but it just causes the car to use a lower gear.

One 'secret feature' my 1991 900SPG had, was that when shifted in rear gear, ''back up lights turned on on the FOUR corners of the car, not only at the rear: giving a 360' vision in parking manoeuvres.. this was a Great feature. Never saw that again on my other Saabs. As well, in this car, AC/Heating system allowed you to use both, ac and heat simultaneously -> you could heat the car in winter, get it 'dry' on humid days, and get cool air by the 2 center dashboard traps and direct it to your face to prevent falling asleep on long runs, while getting heat from other outlets.. great! The air conditioning also works for inside the arm rest, good for keeping your juice etc cool, it also works the same with heaters, so is good for keeping a hot snack warm if you want to keep it for a while, or are in a hurry, the auxiliary switch will work when used, but just to let you know the connection for it is either inside or on the back of the arm rest, I can't remember exactly were but it is definitely one of the two places mentioned, The flat line on the key fob is known as and named by Saab as the "find my car button", Finally can anyone let me know if it is actually possible to turn up the boost on my 9-3 by disconnecting the waste gate from the turbo, and turning the waste gate I think clockwise for 3 full turns actually works, I have read about this, but have never seen anyone actually do it, and have read also that doing it can F,.k the turbo, any advice on this would be much appreciated.

The - button on the SID is not for anything. Its for extra high beam lights (buckets/LED bars etc.) When you program the function with tech2 it will let you connect an auxiliary light source to the 4-pin connector next to the engine room fuse box. When you then turn on the car, it will not do anything, but after activating the switch, the auxiliary lights will power on/off together with the cars high beams. This is active until pressing the - button again or turning off the car. Another genius idea from SAAB, making it easy to mount extra lights without pulling wires in and mounting switches in the dash
