Hey Kevin, thanks for the good work here. As a biochemist though, I wouldn't expose the drug to that high of a temperature (hair dryers can reach up to 150C). It may damage the active ingredients in there. But liquefying it is totally fine, I would just steep the bottom of the foam filled cap into warm (not more than 40C) and it should still liquefy pretty quickly. Cheers!

Thanks, I was worried about this as well as I was almost certain that overheating it would diminish the efficacy, but it makes perfect sense to not go much over the natural body temperature when liquifying as it would be the exact same as when the foam interacts with the scalp and dissolves into liquid! cheers!

Some great tips. I'm a 29 year old woman and I use men's 5 percent foam all over my scalp. I part my hair and just directly drawn a line of minoxidil onto the hair parts and pat it in. This method seems to work the best for me. The only thing I get concerned with is it is difficult to measure how much I am actually putting onto my hair.

the problem with that is the foam makes the hair look bad and it gets wasted, thats why boiling the minoxidil foam and then applying it that way is best.

Thanks so much for this video man... Just started minoxidil a week ago and the liquid would take up to 6 hours to dry and was really greasy. Definitely could not go out after applying because my hair would look greasy/very thin after application. Tried foam, but as you said, you end up wasting most of it on your hair. But with applying foam as you would liquid, hair looks a lot better afterwards and would be able to leave house after it drys, much shorter time frame. Makes using minoxidil so much more manageable.

I did this for a few months. It works but here's the catch with the foam in general: since it is alcohol based it has a drying effect on the scalp and hair if it gets on it. If you have a dry hair type (african, for example) this can be bad. On the other hand liquid minoxidil is propylene glycol based which is slightly moisturizing. If you can handle the long drying time, the need to scrub a little when you shampoo, and you aren't allergic, I actually think it is better for people with dry hair and dry scalp. Liquid is a little bit cheaper too, and possibly has better efficacy.

3 questions for you: 1. When the whole is converted to liquid through the application of heat, is that hot liquid in theory, not good for the scalp? It's been said to never rinse or wash your hair with hot or even warm water, because it damages the pores. 2. Should I apply the minoxidil to the area in which my hairline once was, or where it currently has receded to? I'm concerned to sprout hair on my forehead. 3. If I do get dandruff from the minoxidil usage, which shampoo/conditioner do you suggest I use, to clear the dandruff as well as strengthen the hair?

The liquid is the same temperature as it becomes when the foam comes into contact with your own body heat and melts so its nothing to worry about. You don't expose it to heat long enough to become hot. 2. I sure as Hell did before my transplant and it didn't work but my temples were slick bald. If there is some terminal hair left though it probably will help at least a little bit. Small vellus hairs probably won't become terminal though. 3. Coal tar shampoos are the best I have used for dandruff. Nizoral is good but it tends to dry out the hair too much.

I am not sure, but I think that warning is in reference to the actual container since the contents of the container is under pressure. When something already under pressure is heated, the pressure increases to more that what the bottle was designed to withhold, thus possibly exploding 🤯 Whipped cream used on pies has the same warning I believe. So make sure not to accidentally heat the minoxidil container if using the blow dryer to melt the foam in the cap.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the video! It's a real useful trick to liquify a foam and apply it as a liquid. However, I'm kind of surprised about the amount of minoxidi you apply at once. The manual says it has to be around 1/2 capful of foam, but you are using like 2 capfuls if not more. Like aren't you getting any side effects when using more than recommended? I understand that to have a better coverage I'd have to use more foam, but I am really afraid of gettings sides. Thanks!

Side effects from minoxidil are usually associated with its oral form

hey kevin im a diffuse thinner all over do you think 2-3 ml is enough for daily application?

@@silvachuu 3 ML should be good enough for full scalp coverage.

hey man, good ideas. Just concerned that heating the minoxidil too much would affect the substance itself.

To those who don’t wanna use a hairdryer or boil water every time they use minox, I’d recommend just running hot water in ur toilet sink or wherever and just tilting the cap full of minox so the hot water touches the side/bottom of it. I’ve tried it countless times and it has always worked for me. If u don’t have hot tap water then that a whole different case but majority can try this 🫡🫡🫡

or get one of those small squeezy bottles with a tip (such as e-cigarette 30ml bottle), fill it with foam, secure the tip on and you can just throw it in the sink and run hot tap water over it while brushing your teeth or doing something else. when it melts you can use the same bottle to squeeze minox directly on to the scalp. that's what i've been doing for the past 3 years and find it the fastest method.

I saw a video where you were storing the foam converted liquid in a bottle. Can you share ue trick as that would help do it once a month than everyday

I know this is an old vid but I'd been using this method for a while now before my rogaine ran out and the new one I bought simply doesn't melt. Did they change the formula? Tbh on this one says it's an aerosol.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without using minoxidil and did you shed?

I think like 5 weeks, maybe? Yes I believe so but it got back under control when I resumed treatment.

Is there any point on using minoxidil on the sides or the back of the head? Might seem like a stupid question but just wondering from an overall maximising hair caliber standpoint

Maybe if you want to improve your donor region for a future hair transplant.

I use a wash bottle for a chemistry lab and fill it with minoxidil. That way it’s a dropper built in. Easy to add minoxidil all over

How long till you see results? I applied biotin liquid for three weeks and did not see results. I also micro needle every other day

Biotin is useless, use minoxidil and finasteride and give it 6 months minimum.

@@haircafekevin thank you so much! A little hesitant to use finasteride cause of potential….umm “performance” issue 😅

Getting it on the hair itself actually works as a wick and the minox will migrate through the strands of hair into the scalp where it’s needed. So even just a roughing of the hair with the minox will suffice as long as it’s done consistently.

How many ml’s of liquefied foam minoxidil do you use for full scalp coverage in one application? Considering that you only apply minoxidil once Daily…

Hey Kevin, how long should i wait for the minoxidil foam to dry until i can go to bed?
