What makes the Barbados golden goal even better is that at the 83rd minute they were up 2-0 and their goalie accidentally scored an own goal meaning that all the goals scored in the match were by Barabados.

Weird Rules was how I found SB, so it holds a very special place in my heart. Also the Story with the 2pt Golden Goal once won me a Pub Quiz, so thanks Secret Base! :D

I feel like that's the perfect 'pub trivia'-level story, because it's so simple but SO stupid that it's very easily shared and talked about.

Sweet, a Weird Rules compilation! Weird Rules is how I found Secret Base in the first place, years ago, so it'll always be special to me. I know everyone loves Jon Bois and his work (rightfully so), but without Weird Rules I wouldn't have even known about Jon at all, so I'm grateful for that as well.

I'd love to see you guys cover the only time in NHL history where a player who wasn't present at the game was credited with a score. The gist of the story is that Blue Jackets player Nathan Horton scores a goal against the Stars during a 2014 game, but the games gets postponed after a player collapses on the bench due to irregular heartbeat. Before the makeup game, Horton suffers a lower body injury and misses the game, but his score remains and is credited to him despite him not touching the ice that day.

The game in which Shaq destroyed the backboard twice with dunks during his time with the Magic was broadcast nationally on television, and it was truly amazing. Shaq's dunk shot that day changed the rules of the NBA, he is truly a monster center.

"should not have reasonably anticipated such contact by an opponent" Does this mean that if your opponent does enough late tackles that you should have expected this, then it's okay? I'm imagining a more extreme version of the Saints bounty scandal, where a quarterback is clearly being targeted for bad hits after the down is over, and the refs are like, "Well, you should have known this would happen."

Did Shaq ever bring down one those older collage arena type baskets? The type that were attached to the roof more or less and could be folded backwards over the bleachers at a 45° angle to be out of the way for graduation or volleyball? Anyone know what I’m talking about?…

34:00- you guys do realize, $10,000 in the late 1800s was actually a ton of money. The average person was only getting like a dollar per day. It may actually have been that until 1900, because the $5 work day was a multiple of at least 2 to three on the national average in the 1910s when Henry Ford began it.

I remember with the Suns/Celtics one - shouldn't it have actually been a huge story? Ref forgets to give the Suns a technical they're due, and they end up tying the overtime period? +1 point - like they probably would've gotten from that technical - and they win the game (though due to Chaos theory the rest of the period would've played out differently).

For the 1994 Caribbean Cup, spare a thought for Puerto Rico, the true victims of the double golden goal. In a normal group stage, they allow ties, 1 point for both sides. Puerto Rico would already be at 4 points with a win over Barbados and a tie with Grenada, Grenada would have 1 point and qualify with a 2 goal win of their own, Barbados would have 0 points and already eliminated. Then Barbados would have beaten Grenada 2-1 and Puerto Rico would have made the finals.
