@@A_Wild_Yeengirl you need to show respect and sportsmanship. For over a hundred years we didn't have this cutesy bs, and it was a much better game to watch. Now the mlb feels like a bunch of dudes covering for not being as good as past stars by showboating, and its ruining the game.

@@Z1ggy6969 Babe Ruth's most famous play involves him calling a shot. If that isn't showboating, idk what is. Babe Ruth would also be flummoxed at the plate by a modern A ball pitcher and shelled on the mound by a modern A ball hitter. The game has done nothing but evolve. The players have done nothing but get better. If you think players aren't playing at a higher level today than they ever have then you're the one stuck in the past, not the game. Leave baseball out of your "good old days" bullshit. Shut up and enjoy the game, or don't. All you have to do is get up off your ass and turn off the TV.

One side of me will always root for the Dodgers to lose, especially in their wild card game, but another side of me wants to see them make it to the NLDS so the Giants can prove that they're the better team, and legitimize their run if they do win it all this season. It would be kind of cheap and nay sayers will say the Giants got lucky if the Cards beat them in a do or die game. But the Cards are no joke right now, baseball's all about getting hot at the right moment, and I wouldn't be surprised if they eliminated both the Dodgers and Giants.

Two of the most colorful characters in the last decade; in a sport, whose lore is chock FULL of such people. This should be fun! As an NL Central guy (lifetime Cub fan here, and despite the rivalry, I enjoy watching St. Louis play- they are alway's fundamentally solid), I didn't get to see a ton of Yasiel. Except on Baseball Tonight highlights and the occasional Game Of the Week, until Puig was traded to the Reds. And he was hurt, or underperforming, a good amount of the time he was with that club. So, mostly, I remember Puig as being the talented, but inconsistent, bat-licking right fielder, whom you dared not take an extra base on his cannon of an arm. MadBum, on the other hand, I know all too well. Seeing him twice a year, at least, on the mound and then some more in the postseason, he was consistently the most feared guy on San Fran's staff, if not the NL as a whole. It was weird to see him in an Arizona uniform. I still haven't become accustomed to it. Side note: TWO Clara Morris vid's in the last two weeks!! Be still my beating heart 😊💚 I haven't had a day off in that time (work in health care, we are getting shredded - everyone needs to learn patience, we are all in this together), but good content like this help's keep the blues away. So, blessings to sport, to Secret Base, and Clara. Thank's y'all, though you don't know it, you're a part of my team (the mental health unit 😏). Can't wait for the next one!

I hate to keep being the one to break this to fellow baseball fans, but the unwritten rules are one of the biggest reasons why people who don't like baseball think that baseball is stupid. And they aren't wrong. It boggles my mind that a hitter looking at a home run for a couple of seconds can still be treated as a huge deal. No other sport is like this. Basketball, football (American and beyond), hockey... you name it. The fans, competitors, media, and even coaches in those games have collectively accepted that if someone does something really good, they and their teammates get to enjoy it. Even including absurdly elaborate group celebrations. Baseball is the only game where people still cling to the mindset that I don't enjoy losing, so you aren't allowed to enjoy winning. Thankfully, there's finally been significant pushback against this in recent years. Hopefully it's something that the game can put behind it soon, but I'm sure it'll continue to linger as long as Boomers make up a majority of the viewing audience and teams are still hiring fossils like Tony LaRussa as managers. 🙄

So not only do I hate pitchers because they're the most whiny, entitled people in all of athletics period, but they can get away with attempting to grievously injure or kill people since a major league fastball that tags you can be a permanent injury. Intentionally beaning someone to get them on base like bonds is one thing, but batters sure as hell arent allowed to walk up to the mound and swing the bat at a pitcher. If I became the head of MLB tomorrow, I'd put a rule on that if you intentionally throw the ball at a batter to injure them, you're banned from playing pro baseball for life at MINIMUM. If I could have my way you should get booked for aggravated assault for doing it too.

I love young guys pretending to be "old guys" arbitrarily enforcing pitcher friendly rules that do very little except show everyone how precious and sensitive some pitchers are. Instead of beaning someone who admires a homerun they hit, maybe focus on doing a better job - batters can't use their bats as a weapon, why do pitchers get all the protection from physical pain and hurt feelings.

He got drafted 10th overall and people from NC were happy but we had never seen this side of him and although he is a great pitcher, he just makes people from NC look bad because of his temper tantrums when things don't go his way.
