I appreciate you saying, that we are all busy whether we have children or not. I’m 62 years old and have one daughter who is 22 years old and is moved out. I’m busy from the time I get up until bed time. Sometimes I do the same thing and make a project so big and then when I just make myself do it, it’s not difficult at all. lol love your videos ❤

My dad helped his mom make their soap when he was young. They made their own lye running water in the wood ash from their stove, then using lard they had rendered themselves. He said my grandmother would pour it into large trays, and after curing, she would cut it into bars. Half the bars would be shredded for use in laundry.

You said how wasting time thinking about something that needs to get done is worse than just doing it (my translation/apologize if I butchered it) and I agree. It’s something I have to battle everyday.

I have watched you and your sister Lisa for several years now and the one thing you and Lisa have taught me is to be intentional with my time. Unfortunately, I went through a divorce 15 years ago and went from a stay at home Mom and Grandma to having to work full time. I have many hobbies and love to make homemade foods and with this lifestyle change, I have had to relearn how to fit these things into my evenings and weekends. Instead of coming home each night and just sitting - I make a schedule of things I need to do after work each night. These things give me joy and it was very important to me to continue doing them. It is always amazing to me how much I can do in an evening with just a little planning. Thank you so much for making such inspirational videos because they really do inspire so many of us ❤ God Bless you and your family.

I absolutely love making lard soap! I also use lard as a hand lotion. I make a list every morning, if I didn’t get everything done the previous day then that goes at the top of the list for today. It really helps me to have a list, at 70 years old I tend to forget things.

I have learned, now that I am retired, that chillin’ about my days chores and/ or projects has brought me such peace. I remember about several months into my retirement, sitting on the porch feeling anxious. Like I needed to be doing something besides sitting and enjoying the sounds of the birds, or watching the clouds roll by, or listening to my chickens and the roosters crowin’. And I heard the Lord telling me to just relax and enjoy what He has given me. I felt blessed and thankful from then on. I do get lonely from time to time, my youngest grandchild is 14. My kids and grandkids are all busy with their lives. Working, school, etc. yet I am settling in to my new life with hubby.😊 Your family is beautiful, enjoy it while it lasts!😉♥️

I must admit that compared to you I am definitely lazy. I was always very busy as a stay at home Mom. However, I only have 2 daughters, now grown. My husband worked 12 hour days so I was in charge of everything. Now that we are retired he has taken over taxes, car repairs and gas, the landscaping, home repairs and the dishes. It is heavenly. I did not realize how stressful being in charge of everything was. I love your channel.

Very truthful video on our time, Laura. Americans don't take the time to 'smell the roses' like other parts of the world; we are too driven and trying to find the highest level of success. People and family are far more important than "things".

Awe Laura I am sorry you had a cold, my whole family are still recovering from it and my 93 year old father with dementia was just hospitalised yesterday with a chest infection and dehydration 😢 Please take care of yourself. I love that you make everything natural, I would love to learn how to make my own household natural products including hand soaps etc. Your baby boy is growing up so fast 💗

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this right now. Although I am in a different stage of my life, I still have an adult son at home with severe autism and Type1 diabetes that he will never manage on his own. He, alone, is a full-time job. I struggle with getting things done while he is at his day program. I know that as soon as he comes home, all bets are off and he consumes all of my time until he goes to bed. I struggle with ADD (self-diagnosed). I can't seem to stay on task and find myself overwhelmed and upset that I haven't gotten things done when I he was gone. I think the time blocking might be a solution for me. I'm definitely going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing your life and inspiring me today😊

You learn how to distance yourself from the animnals you raise to feed your family. The one thing I loved the most was when my son was home schooled, when he went to private & public school I dreaded the fall when he had to go back to school. We did school work & sometimes we went on field 9:43 trips. Since he was an only child, he took art classes at the library & took swimming lessons at, the Y which also had an excerise & get together for home schoolers.

You're so on point! Time is fleeting, if we don't slow down, use it wisely & be intentional, it just passes us by! We can miss so much, so many opportunities.. to spend with family, especially our kids because they're not kids for long, or just to get things done or even to be in the right places in life that bring us joy or that are most fruitful for ourselves & our family. I know we're all guilty of rushing thru life at times, we just have to remember.. we're not getting younger & neither are our kids, time don't slow itself down, so we have to slow (our)selves down! My kids are grown, but i have young grandkids, so i try to enjoy these years with them, because i sure miss my own kids being little! I don't want to waste this time! The kids looked so sweet helping out😊 Enjoyed today's video.. hope you have a blessed weekend!

😂 Watching while I eat a quick breakfast with my first cup of coffee and my dogs wrestle on the kitchen floor. Lately I get easily distracted with the long list of activities I want to accomplish, but can’t fit them all in one day. I use melt and pour soap to mix in home grown herbs because I’m afraid to use anything corrosive. I need to make lip balm and body butter too - this is one reason I collect flowers all summer that smells lovely (rose petals, lavender, mint, basil and honeysuckle).

I don't think I am lazy. The US culture is so, that if you sit down awhile and take time for yourself you are lazy. I am retired now several years and could still live a life to constant events and doing; but have chosen a slow pace. All the years of taking care of my children, husband and home, thats ok. I wish I had practiced a bit more of that when younger.

Your videos are so inspiring, even for an old Grandma like me. I watch you from South America, in Colombia. Just a little advice, holding the baby while using a sharp object might be dangerous, he can move and in your intent to hold him you might hurt him. Just with love I say it.

People use liquid aminos or coconut aminos in replacement of soy sauce typically because they’re avoiding soy based products.
