This is all the best advice! I just made straight A's for the first time ever this semester of college! Honestly just biting the bullet and doing your assignments as soon as you can helps a lot. I feel like college is this big game of who can out-do each other (I stayed up longer than you studying for this test or I waited later than you to do this assignment etc) and honestly it's not healthy! Doing good on your assignments pays off in some way shape or form. For example, at the end of one of my classes I already had an A in the class, and the prof decided to let people do one optional assignment worth 40 points if they wanted. Since I already did so well in my class, I didn't even have to worry about the assignment because I had worked hard enough that I had earned a break. I ended my first semester of college with a 1.65 and now I'm here. If I can do it, anyone can!

My overall gpa is okay (3.3) but I got a couple of C’s this past year and I felt like I was too stupid to do any better (to tell you why, a 40% raw score, including partial credit, rounded to a. C+) I had similar feelings that I overcame when I was in grade school but the difference is that I now see my relative ineptitude in comparison with what I could be. I have a hard time turning the inner dialogue from “how is this hard for you, you fucking dumbass” to “this will give you an opportunity to grow as a student”. Sometimes I struggle with basic algebra and trigonometry skills, even though I got A’s in those classes during high school. I sometimes think I am losing brain cells tbh.
@strawverymilktae12802 жыл бұрын
I almost got straight A's this semester but chemistry kicked me hard because of my bad time management not to mention it was honors. I'm taking 6 classes next semester and my gpa is 3.45 rn so I'm going to keep up the hard work, but change how I approach some of my work like less studying with intense focus, and make time for chem 2

go to class!! i CANNOT stress that enough. if you do your best and aren’t at the grade you want, it professors see you missed little/no classes they are more inclined to boost you up to the next letter grade or GPA point.
@wonderlust13084 жыл бұрын
It was like this in my college. No matter the grade, the professors would determine if you deserved better by your involvement with the subject. For example, you get a 56% on a test and let’s say that’s a C+ (Idk I’m from Ireland), they would look at your attendance in class and your participation and eagerness to learn - and if you’re always in class, on time, focused, eager etc. then they’ll boost your grade up to a -B. So no matter the grade everyone made sure to just be in class everyday and pay attention lol

I'm at my fourth semester and Hannah is right, do NOT procrastinate (I used to say that i'm master at procrastinate LOL). It will affected your grades, your sleep schedule, your body and mental health, and for me also i get more acne. That happened to me last semester lol wont do it again
@safala4 жыл бұрын
Can’t agree more. I naturally procrastinate (I don’t even know how I do it, but I do it) but as I am going to college (or should be cause COVID and by grade 12th exams are still on hold) I am trying my best to try to procrastinate as little as possible to the point I can confidently say that I got rid of my procrastination habit. Nothing is worth the stress of doing things last minute.

as a chronic overachiever who took academics to the extreme in high school, I can totally vouch for the fact that mental health is so important!! I used to push my needs aside and obsess over grades and looking back I can see the way I deteriorated, but in college so far I’ve been making an effort to focus on learning about the material instead of focusing on grades, and it has made my quality of life sooo much better! I forgot how much I loved to learn because of how miserable I made myself in high school, and letting myself get excited about classes again has made college so cool! Even when I have a lot to do, at the end of the day I can really say that I’m having fun in my classes which is such a win for me. So yes- you can totally care about your grades, but don’t let your grades (or like me in high school, your class rank) consume you! at the end of the day, having a new perspective of learning and giving yourself a purpose for the work helps so much! thanks for reading if anyone gets this far! I appreciate you 🤍

The tips: ~be organised ~DON'T procrastinate ~time management/manage your time effectively ~go to class + pay attention ~note-taking (take good organised notes BY HAND) ~do any extra credit ( take all of the extra credit opportunities) ~ask for help (if you need it) ~homework (do the homework until you get 100% if you are allowed multiple attempts) ~studying ( use study guides and stuff/ study with friends) ~mental health (mental health is more important than grades/ have positive vibes/ do things you like doing) ~effort in everything ( put in effort/try your best)

I agree very much with the procrastination thing. I have a 100% in my English class and will be in Honors next year (Should have been this year but I slacked off because I was depressed last year in 9th grade). I do everything well and first thing I get it. I’m always the first one to finish my work in that class. I do this thing where I do my homework at school and not at home. It sounds crazy, but I have A’s, B’s and one C in French. I plan and use all my time in school to work because I believe school is a time for work and I need to push myself. Thus, I have 0 work when I get home or if I have my last block class I just finish it at my first, 2nd or advisory class and I have it done. Literally, the thrill of finishing work on time, having your teachers gas you up and making good grades is addictingz I do all of these things this year and the drastic difference from last year where I was depressed because of bullying, my uncle’s wife dying of cancer, stressed, hating school and not doing homework, going to Summer school for math, passing with all D’s & expect my non main classes TO coming early in class, sitting in the front, nor talking to friends, not sitting near friends, not talking in class, taking simple easy notes, not highlighting because I noticed it does nothing for me, asking mad questions until I get it, not over complicating things, doing all my work as soon as I get it, studying, doing well on my projects, ECT. Like, you should do this definitely in Highschool to College to University (if you go) because you need to keep this drilled in your head.
