This is how the military should be portrayed. The image techs nailed this very stable shots to show intensity and seriousness.

"Go back to the way it was in the 80's"..? Interesting. I was a section commander in the 80s. What's the perception of how things were back then?
@tookurjaerbs Жыл бұрын
I think the perception is that basic was much more difficult and instructors could hit or abuse recruits as they pleased
@Great_Sandwich Жыл бұрын
@@tookurjaerbs Naw, never. We were never allowed to lay a hand on recruits. Interesting how you regard my day. It's the same way we regarded the 70s.
@tookurjaerbs Жыл бұрын
Were you in the CAF? Weird. Maybe the perception that instructors could hit you was a public perception. Most of the general public has no idea what goes on in basic training or the military in general lol Their knowledge is mostly based on movies
@Great_Sandwich Жыл бұрын
@@tookurjaerbs Yep. I served from '81-'98. Laying hands on a man was never allowed. Now, did it sometimes happen in the field that when a man wasn't moving fast enough that a Section Commander grabbed him by the webbing and hauled him forward. Sure. And even _that_ was a rare occurrence. So, at least I can confirm that in my little corner, nobody was smacked around, no instructor ever beat a recruit, none of that "Full Metal Jacket", "Choke yourself!", _"Do you believe in the Virgin Mary!?"_ business ever went on.

I love that movie lol I did Basic in 2009 and can confirm what you just said is true. They would get in our faces and yell but that's pretty much the worst of it.

If they are slacking , encourage them, don't punish them. To the soldiers: thank you for your service and may God keep you all safe.

You know nothing of the military. We have already gotten soft enough. No need for your pathetic input
@KallegrandStudios10 ай бұрын
I get your point, but there isn't any better encouragement than to be exposed to memorable consequences for critical errors. Basic Training is where it's at to make mistakes. If you are in a theatre of war walking around on camp away from your rifle, hell, in almost all scenarios where you've been assigned a service rifle, you should never be further than arm's length from it, it can get you in trouble or your friends. That's just the magic applied at every basic trainings of every single military organization, it's been applied since the discovery of bronze and every military organization uses this for a reason. You do something wrong, something critically wrong, there are damages coming up. You'll prefer nightmares of pushups over nightmares of dead buddies; and if the MCpl is doing a good job like that, the troops will remember this for a long time. They are trying to build disciplined soldiers, not soldiers who'll hear encouragement if their buddies died because they couldn't make it to the defensive position since they weren't equipped accordingly.

I don’t see any punishment here. The actions of one helped grant their section a few minutes of PT in the field. They should be thankful, you don’t get PT during field training.
