I have done a few of the same things that you have done - a pity that it is necessary! Other good deterents are to use Datatag or Smart Water tagging on various components and accessories. An exhaust Cat lock is a must these days too.

Can i ask you your experienvce on those Thule Cab locks? - i have found very little review out on tinternet about them. Do you think they are effective if say a window is smashed would the internal cab lock being a keylock prevent an intruder easy egress again, only the smashed window being available.
@wiltshirecustomcamper72036 ай бұрын
Um... I think they are more a visual deterrent for the opportunist. yes they lock, yes they hold the door but wouldnt cope against a crowbar very well I dont think. for me they work well as I have the deadlocks for when I'm away from the van and the thule cab locks for overnight when I'm in the van. i dont use the deadlocks overnight for 'escape' reasons should something happen and you need to exit quickly. Ive just thought that the front door deadlocks are not in the video, if not then I did fit them afterwards...

Hi, very good job and super easy explainded...unfortunately the Link in the descrition for the Locks 4 Vans Deadlocks (Reardoor) dosn't work. At the Homepage of the company, i don't find any prices. Mabe my english is to bad.I have a 2018 Citröen Jumper and I guess that I need to buy the same like you bought. Can you help? Best greetings from Berlin Stefan

Very useful video but just wondering why bother with the barn door deadlock when you can just leave the SolidFy on inside?
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
Good question. I see security as a double sided thing, security when in the van and security when away from the van. the solidfy is very useful when inside as it is easy to apply from the top bunk in addition to the central locking when you go to bed, you don't want deadlocks on when in the van for our own safety to get out if needed. the solidfy however is very awkward to get at on a regular basis when leaving the van parked somewhere, hence the deadlock from the outside. the same applies to the deadlock and internal chain on the sliding door. hope that helps, all the best.
@66Trips2 жыл бұрын
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Thanks, yes, that helps me understand. As I've only got a L1H1 with really easy access to the SolidFy I'll probably just stick with that. I've got internal locks on the cab doors and generally go in/out through the sliding door, so I'll probably put a hooklock on that, as you have. Hope you're enjoying your camper, the finish is superb, way better than mine.

Great video, thanks for sharing. Just one question: Have you ever scratched the back barn door from the internal latch? This might occur when the doors are not closed (or maybe caught by a wind gust) in the correct order? Thanks again - greetings from 'Straya'. :)
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
Not by a gust of wind but a wifey shouting from the back, "the doors don't close" as I hear 'bang, bang, bang' :-(

Hi Pete hope you are well! Am I going mad or did you do a vid for the kill switch? Feel like I watched it and planned to do same this weekend but can’t seem to find it? Seen to remember you informing us which wire we can tap into but maybe I dreamt it 🤣🤣
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
Thanks for eh message. No, you did dream it as I did not film that install as did not want to advertise what/where it was. think about what would prevent the van from starting if it did not receive its 12v signal when the key is turned, on mine the engine turns over but wont start, even if you 'hot wired' it or plugged into the OBD with a laptop to bypass the immobiliser it wont start as it is a 'mechanical' device on the engine that is 'switched' ! as to the switch itself, in plain sight disguised as something else is what I have done. hope that helps in some way, reluctant to blab it all out on the channel, I'm sorry!

Wiltshire Custom Camper thanks so much! I think what I did was watch the video that you linked and got confused! I’m actually looking at a product which does this remotely, kills the fuel pump if vehicle gets stolen, will let you know how it goes. Plan on using this alongside the manual one that you have done! Belt and braces! Keep well my friend

Why not use an Airtag?
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203Ай бұрын
I prefer to be 'pro-active' not 're-active' but thanks for the comment and for watching.
@turkeyphantАй бұрын
What's that got to do with your decision?
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203Ай бұрын
@@turkeyphant I prefer to stop the van being stolen in the first place than use an airtag to find it afterwards. perhaps it is crashed or ransacked or burnt out? I do of course have a tracker too. properly installed.
@turkeyphantАй бұрын
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 I agree but you used a tracker that does the same thing as an airtag. That's what i was talking about not the other parts

What type of people or demographic of people in the UK would make you have to take all these extra measures 🤔
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Жыл бұрын
ah yes, not so much for UK travels (apart from the 'pikey' parts of the country) but more for travels around EU and further afield as it is an easy target for 'chancers'!

Nice to hear Canada is nice and safe, a shame UK, France and Spain is not the same, a few seconds spent locking up tight is well worth it. thieves wont bother to smash a window if they realise they wont be able to open the door anyway, it is all about deterrent!
