Had a very similar break on my fave bat. I just glued and doweled it, who knows how long it will last 😂

Yeah, it just depends on how far across the break is. My GN Ultimate did something similar 5th match i used it. This fix is perhaps over engineered, but its bloody strong.

Awesome video Marc. You would be absolutely filthy about this happening to such a high end bat (not that I’ve ever had such a high end bat to know). You’ve done a stellar job giving this one a new life. Hats off to you sir!

Thanks Stuart. I was nervous, but the owner was not fussed. I'd hate to be charging money for a repair like this and it all go horribly wrong. I imagine $100 would be charged for something like this. I'm not personally fond of using basic epoxy as it's too rigid and may make a bat feel stiff and brittle. PVA for me. With a Table saw and some sort of specialised rigging to hold a bat perfectly upright it would be a piece of cake. Plenty of videos showing the table saw method with timber, not Cricket bats. The Saw and Chisel cost $40, so it's not something I'd say to others to attempt unless it's a Hail Mary and they are hoping for the best and planning for the worst.

I have a bat with a crack at the toe I dowelled. It should be fine.

Nah, not a fan on binding toes. Fibre tape is rigid and doesn’t shrink. Binding can shrink and cause issues.

Great Video as always! Can you use sandpaper to sand the front/face down rather than a electric sander? If so what grade of sandpaper would you recommend? I want to treat my own bats and as this will be a one off (hopefully) I don't want to invest in expensive equipment if I don't have to. Cheers

Sore. Ir just takes longer. 80, then 120 the 240. Check for lines with each change.

Of interest, what type of wood did you use for the lamitoe? Have seen various things used. Willow, obviously. Other stronger types too but then you likely had weight at the worst point. Good job through. Inspired me to try.

The inserts was willow and i ran the grains to support the repair. I considered marine ply if I didn’t have a piece of willow long enough for the repair.
