I've been thinking of buying one of these for a while, but just don't have a use case for it... I don't use any assistants, but I do talk to myself a lot ;) Thanks for showing it off and running the tests!

Thanks for watching, Seon! Any particular reasons behind not using voice? I find it extremely useful to turn things on/off, change music, call my wife, etc. when both of my hands are occupied, etc.

@@TheTinkerDad Because once my kids find out it's there, they'll go nuts and stand outside my office screaming at it... or come in and mess it all up ;)

Ok, didn't think about that, but totally makes sense :D In my case, they have an Echo in their room, so they use that to play Disney soundtracks and stuff like that and leave the others alone. Also, it's been there for months now and the magic is gone, they got used to it :)

Thanks for this review! I have got this mic array, when connecting it to my laptop it does not show up on the list of input/output devices. Do you know how to fix this issue?

Hi! I'm afraid I can't provide much help based on the information provided. Can you tell me more? First and most importantly - which operating system you're using?

Love it, I have been looking at these for a bit , comparing to the espressif and mic matrix boards. It looks like the prices are finally going down
@TheTinkerDad5 жыл бұрын
I think it has the same price since its announcement, but the according to Reddit and whatnot, they worked on the firmware furiously and now it's actually quite good. Right now, i'm trying to upgrade it and what I can already tell, it's a P.I.T.A. on Windows :)

The Tinker Dad ahh I was thinking of with the respeaker core and the matrix creator which were double that price.

Great Review just one fast question; it's possible to connect an external mic ? Does it have any audio input abled?
@TheTinkerDad5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This device IS a microphone itself, or an array of microphones to be precise. Connecting an external mic would defeat its whole purpose. If you're not satisfied with the audio quality, check my other video with the upgraded firmware for this mic array. With the new 48khz firmware it produces incredibly better recordings.

Can this respeaker be used for sound locating with rpi ?
@TheTinkerDad4 жыл бұрын
Hello, Sorry for the long delay. According to my best knowledge, you can use it, however, personally I've never tried. On GitHub there's a lot of Python code for ReSpeaker and some of the samples cover what you need. See: github.com/respeaker/respeaker_for_raspberrypi Good luck! :)

wow it sucks, thanks for the test

With the factory firmware it does. Check the other video with the 48khz firmware, it's still not perfect but much, much better!
