that's nice to hear. sometimes you get the impression that certain things can't be done (physically) past a certain age. 20s being ideal and 30s even getting a little sketchy. breakdance just looks so fun.

It blows my mind how Yes Theory has grown from Project 30 (which I love) to having multiple storytellers. Each with their own “type” of story to tell. But every episode is completely mind blowing. We get educated on topics we might not think that are interesting but end up 🤯 in the best way possible. Funny and emotional. All at the same time 😂

As a former dancer who became disabled and pretty much bed bound in her early 30s, I really encourage everyone to go out and try everything you’ve always wanted to try. You may find your calling, or you may suck at it but have a great time, either way, just do it because you don’t know how much time you may have.
@cher-amirose71092 жыл бұрын
Oh so true. I am so sorry about your situation. I only wish I had the courage to do dance. Ever. I was diagnosed with several health issues (mainly rare genetic disease/disorders, traumatic injuries from accidents, etc). My mind still thinks I can do things..but my body is not cooperating. So, I absolutely agree that anyone that wants to, is capable of doing, should absolutly GO FOR IT WHILE YOU... 'CAN' !!!!! Chrisy, I would love to see videos of your dancing!!!!! I envy dancers...because I've always wanted to be a dancer. Thank you for your story. 💚

I feel like once we stop being kids, so many of us hold ourselves back from trying new things because we're embarrassed and scared to suck, scared of other people's judgement (myself included). Major props for putting yourself out there- I've always sucked at dancing too so I relate. Time to challenge myself!

That was actually extremely impressive to see how quickly these two progressed in 1 month, even getting down a clean baby freeze! This was great video, as someone who has been practicing for over 10 years it can be easy to forget what the beginning of the journey is like, and this documented the process so well to inspire others. Kudos to the video creators, and the teachers!

So rad. I started salsa dancing last year at 25. Joined their performance team and went on to do 3 seperate choreography performances that year. One of them was to a 500 in person and 10,000 virtual audience. And no, I'm not even that good. Could have absolutely never imagined myself on stage doing that, but if you put yourself in that environment and have the community around you, you have no choice but to want to do your best, and have fun. Mad props🙌

I spent 5-6 years of my teenage years break dancing almost every day. Going to teenagers dance every weekend and battling….. this was a fun part of my life. I’m now 38 and honestly I miss it A LOTS!!!… often think about starting again, showing my kids how to break dance…. Always will be a bboy in my heart

I started shuffling in 2020 (at 22 years old). I’ve been struggling with my technique and rhythm for 2.5 years and I kinda look a little too tense/awkward when dancing and doing the same moves over and over. I wish I looked better and smooth and effortless. People say I look good but I know I’m capable of so much more. This video inspires me to make 2023 my year to buckle up and get busy refining my technique! and I think I want to do a 30 day challenge myself!! I want to say 2024 I will not question posting a video ever again because I know I will be proud of my shuffle 🙏🏻

I think that dance, like any art, has its "ugly" stage, where it doesn't look great, but then it becomes this beautiful thing. With traditional art styles that's the process of creating anything, whereas dance its the process of learning. Awesome stuff Tommy and Melida!

As someone who has been exploring many physical activities past 30, such as yoga, sport climbing, and calisthenics, I don't agree that you can't learn new tricks past a certain age. I would feel miserable and unfulfilled if I didn't do these things on a regular basis. Mad respect to you guys for going out there and crashing it 🔥💪

This was great to watch. I’m a choreographer from London, it’s extremely difficult to put yourself out there like that. They should be really proud of themselves just for giving it a go but they also learnt a lot and made excellent progress in a very short amount of time. I love nothing more than working with a student ready to challenge themselves and just go for it. It’s a wonderful and rewarding process to help someone grow a little. I hope very much you two keep it up. If you’re ever in London I’d be honoured to teach you or just go for a jam. Thanks for a great video.

At the beginning of my first semester of my freshman year of college, the school of dance at my university offered a free African Dance class during the first week of classes. Me and a bunch of my friends went to unwind from orientation and I remember feeling the exact same silly and super vulnerable way those two were. I remember really vividly how being with those supportive people/teachers and pushing through/really embracing that discomfort was so freeing and so special. ps: me and one of those friends are taking the full dance course in the spring 😁
