Carl just had a heart procedure called an ablation: Basically, a couple of probes into the heart via catheterization to treat atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeats). Areas of the heart muscle are either burned or frozen to cause scarring, thus breaking up the irregular electrical signals. He had the procedure back in June, and should be in top form, as one regains full energy over a few weeks' time as the regular blood flow from the heart increases oxygen levels to the body. My lovely and wonderful wife just had the same procedure in early July, and, while the strength increase seemed gradual, she now says that she hasn't fell this good in 15-20 years. Stay young, Carl !!!

Experienced these guys at Northern Kin a few years back and was totally blown away. Before they came on I was thinking 'this isn't gonna work' because there wasn't any keyboards set up, how wrong I was! Carl is just as precise as he ever was, and the lads either side are amazing. P.S. Never seen a Chapman Stick used before, and this lad can create any sound he wants on this thing. As does the guitarist. Awesome three piece!

I agree. I saw them twice in their South American tour in the 90s and they were brilliant. To me, this is not ELP; as a mattet of fact, Palmer has been playing with his band ELP music for at least 20 years. The difference is now there's Keith and Greg on those screens, in a concert (Royal Albert Hall 92, extraordinary concert) I saw thousand of times. I love ELP, but sorry, don't get me wrong, folks, but I wouldn't go to see this.

I saw Carl a couple of years ago. At the time it was just him, the guitarist and the bass player. They were brilliant because they did the songs with a new twist.

@@Seekmage It just seems like all the other great drummers found new and exciting things to do. Bruford and Cobham went through bands as sidemen and then led bands of their own; Bruford retired a legend. Peart composed new lyrics and drum parts for studio and stage for 40 years; did some of his best work right up until he retired.
@Seekmage Жыл бұрын
@@hubbsllc That's what you might do but this is what he wants to do. Let's applaud him for own personal choices for his own life. I believe this is an epic turning/beginning point in future live concerts. Going forward I see AI making immense changes, including creating 3D holographic images and performances for those no longer with us who were a major impact on the group. Think of any concert, from any group/performer you would like to see again but know it's impossible because they are not here anymore and, well, the past is the past and cannot be relived again. Think again because AI will be able to recreate those images in not just 3D but immersive 4D on stage. Think about that and that it is all beginning with Carl Palmer and this tour. This is an epic choice in his career to perform this way. He will go down in history and be forever remembered for this choice of his to perform this way.

This is definitely a unique and cool approach for Carl and I know it comes from the best place in his heart. That he can still rock in his 70s is unreal. I saw him from row 2 with these 2 musicians in Charlotte and was blown away. Now, adding the screens is pretty awesome in my book and if people enjoy it then that's great! If he comes near me and I can go I will not think twice. Love this! God bless him for keeping the music alive.

I grew up on ELP and Carl was my first route into drumming. I was looking forward to this live concept, but I'm sad to say this 7:21 of performance contained 70 seconds of Greg&Keith...I'd be a little disappointed if the rest of the show had this proportion of content of ELP to Carls live trio...amazing as they are. Don't want to seem like a bit of a downer, as I'm an original ELP fan.
