The AO game rating is the least common one given out by the ESRB. In a way, it's almost legendary, requiring some of the most depraved and stupidest design decisions to earn one. And for fun, I've run through every single one that's available to play. It's been something.

IIRC, one of the contributing factors to Manhunt's AO rating was the fact that, on the Wii (yes this game was on the Wii), the player would be required to act out certain motions with the Wiimote during kills. So if you garroted an NPC the player would actually have to perform a motion with the remote to simulate strangling the character. Granted, this information comes from a half-remembered Game Informer article from 2007, so maybe that's not true, but I remember it being a talking point at the time.

At first I didn't believe this type of rating was a thing. But after looking it up I found out that this rating does exist. If I had to guess, this rating must be uncommon but not unheard of.

San Andreas being AO due to having resource files for a sex scene that cannot be accessed in the game is quite an odd commentary on American society. It's a game in which you play as a member of an organised crime syndicate, and where violence, both with firearms and with vehicles, is incredibly common. If anything should give it an AO rating, it's that, not a sex scene.

When I was 13 my buddy and I walked into his older brother's room to find him wacking off to one of these sinful abominations. I can't remember which but the fact that 20 years later one of my favorite content creators just (presumably) covered the same game is absolutely hilarious to me. I wish there was one word to describe "traumatic nostalgia" because that's what I'm feeling right now. Great video as always.

adult only does not = porn games. That's whole different genre. For those who don't know mature games are 17+ or 18+ (which have gore, nudity and everything bad lol) adult games are 18+ (same as mature but uncensored) Porn game 18+, 21+ or even 25+ depends on country max age rating and regulations laws (it's uncesnored porn and almost without gore, drugs or other, but they do sometiemes have them. As I've seen people confuse the 3 mature games, adult games and porn games.

5:22 If this comes up again, where you need an old version of windows, just go download VMware Workstation for free. Then you just need an .iso of whatever operating system. Even if you wanted to do it in windows10/11, I would still use an VM since you're probably going to be downloading a LOT of malware while trying to find a working copy of the game.

I appreciate this information! I was advised by my tech savvy friend to avoid older versions of windows unless I really didn't mind it getting ruined by malware and stuff lol. I would've set that up in hindsight if I knew how wonky things got. Mounting isos I found online barely worked because of the out of date version and stuff. Lessons learned for sure!

@@seer6251 yeah with VMs you can just make like a Windows XP Virtual Machine (VM) in VMware or Virtual Box, open it up, download all the BS you want to it, and when you’re done, you can just delete the VM. I work in Cyber Security, so at home I have dozens of Virtual Machines in Virtual Box and VMware workstation, and I routinely download and run real malware in them. I even “snapshot” the VM, that is save it’s state, right before I download and run the malware. That way I can “revert to snapshot” and run the malware over and over from a “fresh victim” while I’m analyzing the malware. When I’m done, I just erase the VM. There’s other steps I take to avoid “VM breakout” but those basics of just spinning up an XP vm would work great for your purposes.

When I was a dumb little kid, one or several of the drivers on my Windows 98 system got busted. My mate who had an older h@xx0r friend told me to take my PC to him, said the guy could hook me up with drivers and a ton of other shit, a real all-you-can-copy buffet for my 6-gigabyte hard drive. CD-RWs were still rare, so we used WinRAR to break up 5 to 15-megabyte games and transfer them on floppies. You can imagine how awesome the idea sounded. With my parents' blessing, I unplugged all the wires, picked up my computer, YES THE WHOLE FUCKING CASE NOT THE HARD DRIVE, and off we went. Decades later I would learn that the guy's place looked ALMOST EXACTLY the way hacker pads were portrayed in the eponymous movie: a small rented apartment with ratty wallpapers and trashy posters, shitty linoleum floors, dark, filled with cigarette smoke and way too many blindening-bright CRT monitors. ...Where was I going with this? Oh yeah, the guy turned out to be awesome. He fixed my drivers and filled the 12-year-old me's hard drive with porn to the brim: porn stories, porn pictures, some video action in gorgeous 240p and of course, Lula: The Sexy Empire. Ah, the memories.
