Episode 55 + Episode 56 Notes: (Part 1) The Slander of Aisha RA or The Event of Ifk Sometime after the Expedition of Al Muraysi, this took place and its narrated by Aisha RA herself and can be found in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. Aisha RA won the lot to travel with the Prophet SAW on the Expedition of Al Muraysi. Thus she travelled on her Howdaj. After the conquering of the Banu Mustaliq and after Abdullah Ibn Salul was exposed by the revelation of Surah Munafiqun. The Muslims had slept on the outskirts of Medina. Whilst everyone was asleep, Aisha RA went to relieve herself and on the way back, she realized her Onyx necklace, that the Prophet SAW had gifted her, was missing. She went back to look for it and by the time she got back to the camp, the Prophet SAW had already commanded the Muslims to resume their journey back to Medina and Aisha RA was left all alone. Aisha RA found her necklace which had actually fallen under the area where her camel had rested. Aisha RA then assuming the Prophet SAW would come back for her once they found out she is missing, fell asleep under a tree. She was woken up by Safwan Ibn Muattal RA who had slept through the order to wake up and thus was lagging behind the entire Muslim army. Safwan RA recognised Aisha RA, since he had seen her before the order for Hijab was revealed and thus exclaimed zikr in shock. This awoke Aisha RA and she covered her face with her jilbab. Safwan RA then got off his camel and allowed Aisha RA to mount it and then led her to Medina without looking at her. Eventually, the two caught up with the army before it entered Medina. After this event, Aisha RA fell ill for one month and was unaware of the rumours, that were being spread by Abdullah Ibn Salul. The only thing that made Aisha RA suspicious was the fact that, the Prophet SAW had begun visiting her less often. After one month, Aisha RA fully healed and this was when was told about the slander against her, by Umme Mistah. This caused Aisha RA to fall sick again but much worse. She then asked the Prophet SAW’s permission to visit her parents in order to confirm this rumour. There she spoke to her mother, Umme Ruman, who unintentionally confirmed the rumour and tried comforting her. Aisha RA then wept for an entire night and did not sleep. Aisha RA later stated that, Abdullah Ibn Salul and his Munafiqun amongst the Banu Khazraj spread the slander. Aisha RA also states that, 3 of the Sahabah RA were guilty of gossiping and they were Mistah, Hammanah Bint Jahsh and Hassan Ibn Thabit RA. Hammanah Bint Jahsh RA only spread the gossip because she wanted to help her sister, Zaynab Bint Jahsh RA, since she knew that, Aisha RA and Zaynab RA had a rivalry as co-wives of the Prophet SAW. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. Alhamdulillah ..reason for juweriah ra marriage doesn't really holds much weight in the light that our blessed prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam lead a completely opposite life ,he married at 25 without a scandal to his name,accepted the proposal of khadija ra,who remained his only wife for majority of his life 25 years approx.So in his mid fifties ascribing multiple marriages to anything but wisdom is weird to say the least.Allah knows best.

Great lecture as usual. One question I had regarding timing. Aisha reports that hijab had been declared before the incident of the slander, and you are taking the position that Muraysi' took place 5th year (before Khandaq). However, in your lecture on Banu Quraytha after Khadaq, you mention that hijab had not yet been declaired. is it not then a stronger position to side with Ibn Ishaq that this took place after Khandaq?

Can someone please help me find something ? I heard it in one of the lectures before this but i can't find it. I've been trying to search for 3 days continuously. The Sheikh mentioned the story where the Prophet PBUH asked for only muslim volunteers to go on an expedition. So the volunteers gathered and left when a non-muslim came and asked to join the army but they asked him if he is Muslim, he said no. So he was told to return. This happened again and eventally he said he is muslim and he was allowed to join the army. I can't find the lecture and place where Sheikh Yasir Qadhi mentioned it.
