Episode 8 Notes: The Early Manhood of Prophet Muhammad SAW • The Prophet SAW was a shepard at 13 years old and all of the Prophet AS of Allah SWT, were shepard’s. • When the Prophet SAW was 15 years old when he participated in the Fijar Wars, where he would collect arrows for his uncles. • When Prophet SAW was in his early twenties, he witnessed the signing of the treaty of Hilf al Fudul and he agreed with it. Fun Trivia fact: Prophet Dawud AS invented the slingshot Fun Trivia fact: Allah SWT taught the following: Prophet Idrees AS how to write with the pen, Prophet Adam AS how to speak, Prophet Nuh AS how to build a ship, Prophet Dawud AS how to build a strong armour. ========================================================== Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah. Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

The section from 50:00 or so on, regarding helping those in need, is quite powerful. I believe it is something that people of many different faiths can band together to accomplish. I would like to see more examples of Muslims and Christians and Jews showing that we can live and work and serve respectfully side by side. Such a scenario will also help us learn about each other, and there is no better way to live in peace, than to seek to understand the viewpoints of others. That is why I am here, as a Christian, listening to this fine teacher. I want to understand the viewpoints and attitudes and histories of my Muslim cousins.

Revisiting for the second time. I listened to the Seerah of the Prophet (SAW), then the Seerah of the Sahaba and the Seerah of the Mothers of the Believers. Really, this is so addictive. Though I have been listening to the Seerah from childhood every Ramazan, this is so engaging, so insightful, so relevant to the present time. It increases our Eeman and our love for our Prophet (SAW). Its an opener to the history of our religion. Its a must for every Muslim. I was a History Teacher for more than 25 years, teaching Modern World History, and after listening to this I feel, so little and useless. Dr. Yasir Gadhi's immense work in doing such thorough investigation, such engaging presentation, the amount of time spent on this and connecting it to our times, and so much more has made me listen to this again and again. May Allah (SWT) reward him the highest in Jannah for this invaluable work! Aameen!

In the video, he talked about the Prophet Muhammad when he was young. He mentioned two main events: one where the Prophet helped in a war when he was a teenager, and another where a treaty was made to support justice. 1. In the first story, the Prophet Muhammad helped his people in a war even before he became a prophet. This shows that it’s okay to help in important causes even if they’re not about religion. 2. In the second story, a treaty was made to support fairness and help those who were treated unfairly. This shows that it’s important to stand up for what is right, even if it’s not directly about religion. Overall, the video teaches us that it’s important to be involved in our community, help others, and stand up for justice, even before we think about religion. It’s all about doing the right thing and being a good person. In this video, the speaker talks about how important it is for leaders in the Muslim community to encourage people to get involved in community projects. The speaker mentions that it’s crucial for Muslims to be active and relevant in society, especially for the second and third generations. The speaker also discusses the cultural element where some immigrants may feel detached from their new home country. The speaker emphasizes the need for Muslim communities to be socially active and relevant, mentioning examples of community initiatives like blood drives and collaborations with other organizations. The speaker highlights the importance of encouraging young Muslims to pursue a variety of professions beyond just doctors and engineers, such as scholars, activists, and media representatives. The speaker stressed the significance of being socially relevant and making a positive impact in society as Muslims. The importance of community involvement is indeed a very relevant topic. In the historical perspective provided, we see how the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) actively participated in the society of his time, even before he became a prophet. This involvement with the community in various causes, such as justice, truth, and helping the oppressed, showcases the exemplary leadership qualities of the Prophet. It is crucial for Muslims today to follow the Prophet’s example and engage in community service activities beyond just religious causes. By actively participating in social issues like racism, poverty, and injustice, Muslims can demonstrate the values of Islam through actions rather than just words. This type of involvement can earn respect and trust in the community, making it easier to convey the message of Islam effectively. Regarding the role of scholars and organizations, it is essential for them to emphasize community involvement and social service as integral parts of Islamic teachings. Establishing mosques is important, but equally significant is engaging with the broader community, addressing social issues, and contributing to the betterment of society. Community service activities can serve as a bridge to connect with others and promote a positive image of Islam. In conclusion, community involvement is a fundamental aspect of practicing Islam and following the example set by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). By actively engaging in community service and addressing social issues, Muslims can embody the values of justice, compassion, and service to humanity, ultimately leading to a more harmonious and inclusive society. The speaker discusses the role of leadership in engaging the Muslim community in social projects. They emphasize the importance of preachers and lecturers educating people on community activism. They acknowledge a lack of discussion on relevant social issues within the community and advocate for staying connected to the society one lives in. The cultural element of detachment among some immigrant generations is highlighted, with a call for them to embrace their current society. The importance of second and third-generation Muslims being socially relevant is emphasized. The speaker expresses optimism that born and raised individuals will naturally feel this need. The need for community leaders to encourage children to pursue various professions beyond just engineering and medicine is discussed. The impact of individuals like Muhammad Ali in making Islam known is highlighted. The importance of minorities positioning themselves in influential roles within society for survival and growth is emphasized. The key takeaways are: 1. The importance of leadership in encouraging community involvement in projects. 2. The need for preachers and lecturers to educate the Muslim community on social issues and community activism. 3. The cultural element of detachment among some immigrants and the importance of feeling socially relevant in the adopted homeland. 4. Encouraging second-generation Muslims to pursue a variety of professions beyond traditional fields like engineering and medicine. 5. Emphasizing the need for scholars and activists from the second generation to be locally trained and involved in community leadership roles. 6. Encouraging individuals to find a passion or cause to support, such as domestic abuse or cancer awareness, and get involved in relevant organizations. 7. Advocating for Muslims to become socially relevant through actions and involvement in community initiatives, rather than just debates or preaching. 8. Highlighting the importance of having diverse representation in media, spokesperson roles, and community leadership positions.

And, similarly Saba (34):37 And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us in position, but it is [by being] one who has believed and done righteousness. Some sheep are stubborn, naughty, leaders. But the shepherd know every single one , even though to us,all these sheep looks the same. A shepherd deals with every sheep according to their personality. He understands his sheep. Soft and tender in dealing with his own flock and brave/fearless when fighting/protecting off wolves/ surfing the desert climate. Thus the prophet’s experience as a shepherd mirrors his work as a prophet. Those who take care of sheep have humility and humbleness, rather than being a camel herder Allah chooses all prophets to be sheep Shepards. Camel people are a bit more Arrogant compared to shepherds. Their is a tenderness that comes when dealing with animals- when the prophet saw understood that an animal was being neglected and abused. Another blessing of being a shepherd: shows the simple lifestyle of prophet Muhammad- he did the baseline of manual labour- tehir is no sin/dishonour in working for ur own rizk. The purest Monet u can own is the money from your own labour. One of teh greatest signs of sincerity is u do something for the good of the people and not expecting something back from them . As a result, the poeple didnt pay the prophet when he worked, he earned his own money, so there was no reason for people to not accept religion- they don’t feel like he want something from them.

In my opinion ...there is so little information about Muhammad sallallhuwalaihiwasallam's early life shows how little he cared about his own legacy and did everything only for the sake of Allah.
