Thank you for showing off the landscape possibilities. I think you're the first to do a review on both the telescope and landscape modes

Thanks. I have seen a few other reviews of the landscape mode though I think most people are interested in the astronomy side.

One of the best reviews on the Seestar S30 I’ve seen on KZbin. Still waiting to get mine from Seestar and being from Ireland myself, it gives me a good indication of what I’ll be able to observe with it. Thanks and again great review, great detail.

Thanks for that great review (tutorial) My S30 was delivered Friday! So far due to commitments and cloud I've managed only to get a few Sun images... It didn't take long to achieve those either! I'm looking forward to capturing some dark sky images and practise a few tips that you've provided especially the de noise and mosaic features. I bought it primarily to take to Australia in 3 weeks and have already written up a list of targets... Great work 🦘

You're welcome! Commitments and clouds, astrophotographers kryptonite. Lucky man to take it to Oz! Coincidentally I was looking to see out of curiosity what southern targets would work well for the FOV like L&S MC's, Eta Carinae, Omega Centuri, Rho Ophiuchi to name only a few. I'm sure it'll be epic.

Love your vids, fellow Irish man, I was going to go for a S30, I have the S50, but I bought another S50 🙈, I don't use my astro rig at all anymore since last March since I bought the first S50. Mind blowing in bortle 3 skies... photons come in so so fast compared my Dublin house.

It's going to be very interesting to see what they come out with next. They are well into the R&D phase at this stage I'm sure.

Do you have the D3 yet? A comparison of S50, S30 und D3 would be very interesting.

I do. I'm actually working on that review video and will be posting it next week. A comparison between all 4. Interesting! That's a good idea.

Very good video Frank! I have been a bit skeptical of these scopes, but for the price , this is excellent value for money. The image processing is quite phenomenal. Question: can you command it to go to a satellite, such as the ISS? Or, do you need to manually skew it into the fov and then enable the tracking feature? Can the library incorporate new targets such as comets?
@StargazerMan12 күн бұрын
Thanks! So you can't as yet track the ISS with it. I think also because of the wider field of view on the telephoto lens that you would only see a white dot. As for comets, yes! The atlas is updated regularly and includes newly discovered comets.

Hey Frank superb video on the S30. Mine is on order so just sitting tight! After watching the video I believe I have made the correct choice. One question please! Do you post edit with additional software? If so any chance of a future video? New subscriber. Thank you, Daren
@StargazerMan12 күн бұрын
Hey. Thanks! So for these shots I used Lightroom to do some level adjustments. I have used Siril to process the individual exposures and it definitely does allow you to get the most out of the data. As for a tutorial on it. Sure, why not! It'll be a couple of weeks though :-)

Can you do non-deep space milkyway photos? Does it star track? This looks incredible!

You can, it's not exactly designed for that but it's possible, I tried it here kzbin.infot9z2wp4A3lc?feature=share

This telescope is for photos only. If all I end up with is photos, I can download those on the internet.
@StargazerMan2 күн бұрын
Photos, Video and Live View. Correct it doesn't have an eyepiece so it's primary use is for capturing DSO's. You can search for any object in the sky and there'll be hundreds of images of it. So thats the same for any astrophotography rig. If your looking for a visual scope to see objects as best you can you'll need a big Dob with good eyepieces.

How'd you get the drone up in Mooghaun? Wouldn't let me take off due to proximity to airport. Great review BTW.

Not an achromat. It is an apochromatic triplet.

💯! Thanks for noticing my slip up. I'll fix that. The fact they can pack an apo plus all the associated filters, focuser, heater etc. etc. into such a small unit is commendable. Thanks again for noticing my error and letting me know. Clear skies!

Hi There, does the s30 have a timelapse night mode that turns the timelapse images into a movie on the s30? Many thanks in advance Stephan ?
@StargazerMan13 күн бұрын
It does have a timelapse mode but I've only used it on the Sun, Moon and daytime terrestrial in scenery mode. I think what you are looking to see is can it take timelapse Landscape Milky Way type shots?

Not for nothing dude but slow means SLOW and Fast means Fast. The function didn't say VERY SLOW AND VERY FAST. I understand your thinking in this but just saying.
@StargazerMan7 күн бұрын
True! I think a better way to phrase it is that I find the control a little fiddly to use. Not exact enough for my liking. While you can adjust the speed by moving the joystick little by little until you get the desired speed I personally find that awkward.
