Sega CD Longplay [020] Dragon's Lair (US)

They did a pretty decent job of downscaling it to 64 (maybe less?) colours. Seems there were quite a few people on the Sega conversion team when you look at the credits at the end.

I'm old enough to remember trying to play the arcade version of this game as a kid at our local landromat. In retrospect, seeing a perfect playthrough makes me realize just how short the game was compared to how far I got. (which wasn't far lol )

I remember playing this game in the arcade but when most games cost 10p or 20p a game this was 50p a game. I only ever got about 3 screens in as I found it very hard. I did once watch someone at the arcade do a full play through on one credit. I was totally amazed at the rapids screen thinking I’d love to play that stage. It was only on the mega cd did I manage to finish the game. A shame they missed the boulders part of the rapids and left out the falling elevator and the fire rope swing screens.

@@mrgonk871 YES! This cabinet always seemed to be twice the price of a regular cabinet. That always made it hard to finish which I believe was intentional. Even though I've finished the game once it was released as a digital download, I'll always have that sore spot of not finishing it in the arcade.

I remeber okaying this game when it was in arcades. Yes, I'm that old. The younger generation will never know how awesome arcades were.

And to think, it did the following: spawned a trilogy, along with Space Ace had their own animated series after AND not only put Don Bluth on the map but fathered the sometimes irritating subgenre and gimmick of all video games, QTE.
