@Clifton Spence Everyone likes to talk about the reasons why but what it felt like at the time is what I personally believe it was. Sony was killing it. I was a Nintendo fan, maybe even fanboi lol, at the time but it was just the truth. My first 2 systems ever aside from Atari 2600 was the Master System and then the Genisis so I adopted Nintendo later in like 94.... They put a real hurt on Sega and Nintendo. Nintendo had the loyal fan base, capital and long history to stay afloat through it. Sega was always the underdog. It wasn't so much about mistakes, though there were some all around, but more about Sony's unbelievable and unexpected disruption that was felt for many years even into the Xbox days.

Still have a Dreamcast and still play it regularly. SEGA did a great job with the Dreamcast, if they had included a DVD player then it could have had a shot to retake their market share for them. The Dreamcast had one of the best launch game lineups ever.
@aadilrizvi15498 жыл бұрын
it would have been cool if the dreamcast had DVD technology, however you have to remember that it was released in 1998 in Japan. At that time, DVD players were almost non existent. a and were ridiculosly expensive. Sega didn't have the money to lose when they were making the dreamcast

Incredible console. Too bad the PS2 overshadowed it. I liked the Dreamcast more. It was so fascinating. The VMU and broadband modem.

One of the best consoles ever. I had about 3 of them. Upgradable modem. The memory card. I remember when I was my ship people used to come in the berthing and just stand there and watch thinking it was a real nfl game on tv when I was playing the first 2k. Sega just never sticks things out or find enough developers to compete.

that's true a built in modem for onlone play a contoller that had a mini controller for mini games if only sega hadn't made so much errors like 32x sega cd and with the saturn, they wouldn't have lost support from 3rd party dev like ea sports, and retailers like walmart and bestbuy and if it could play dvds it would've lasted longer.

Console wise it was great but Sega was stubborn and didn’t realize arcade styled video games were slowly becoming a thing of the past… definitely a console that was ahead of its time though

Miller Animations We didn't get anything amazing when it was released on 2000, but on 2001 we got Metal Gear Solid 2 and Twisted Metal: Black. It also ended up having the biggest and strongest (imo) library of games during that whole gen.
@cloudtx9 жыл бұрын
Miller Animations No arguments there, the Dreamcast had a much better launch with a lot of great games from the get-go but the PS2 was the better investment due to all the great games we got through its long lifespan.
