yo, a fresh new A-Z series already, you bless us Erin :) i had a game gear as a kid, i got it because it had a backlight and you could play it in the dark lol, but tbh most of the games i tried on it were pretty bad. its two rpgs - shining force: the sword of hajya and defenders of oasis - were pretty good though if you like those kind of games. not great for variety streaming of course, but maybe you'll find something else that's worth playing

I had a Game Gear later on but we didn't have alot of money so I only ever had X-Men, Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and the Sonic game that had that dumb mine cart thingy in one of the early stages. I like watching these Alphabetical streams so I can possibly see what I did or didn't miss.

When I was a kid I wanted a Gameboy but my dad was an electrical engineer and made me get a Game Gear because he said it's technologically superior haha. I also wanted an NES but found a Master System under my Christmas tree, again "the hardware is superior" so I grew up with Sega until Super Nintendo.

Shortly into the video, you mentioned Simon’s Quest and it reminded me. Have you seen the upcoming game The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest? It’s not Konami but it’s an obvious Simon’s Quest remake lol. Can’t wait for it.

Yeah people probably underestimate how much retro gaming content there is. Like maybe they think that before Playstation showed up it was just Nintendo and Sega. But there are easily enough games even made before 1990, let alone 2000, that you could play them for the rest of your life and never run out.

I had NO idea that Game Gear games could look so good! I'd only ever seen them on that crap-tastic LCD screen the handheld had. Also, and I only mention this cause you brought up Hyperkin's crappy consoles, Gamerz Tek consoles are the opposite. They are legit hardware clones of NES & SNES (no emulation). All the peripherals, including Everdrives, work on their console clones. Sorry if this sounds like an ad; I don't work for them.. I just thought I'd mention them cause they don't suck and they're an affordable option for people who want to use real hardware. And it seems like Hyperkin's reputation is so bad that maybe it puts people off to trying other non-vintage options.

Hey Erin what are you playing this on? and what everdrive is it? I have the GBA everdrive that can run GG Emulator and games and use it through the gameboy player on the gamecube but I think what you're using is probably a better option.

When it comes to the really pixelated games, have you tried using the GG core specific filter in the Video Processing menu on the MiSTer? It replicates the look of the Game Gear lcd display. It adds the vertical scanlines and softens the edges. That's how I've been playing Game Gear, and Game Boy games on my MiSTer.

Another reason Gameboy dominated : _Far better audio circuitry._ I never owned a Gamegear myself. I had a Lynx & eventually sold it to get a Turbo Express (which I still have!). But, watching this, what’s immediately obvious is just how _atrociously bad_ the music is on Gamegear. The graphics are decent for what it is, but boy is that music _BAD!_ The Lynx honestly sounded better.

With Chuck Rock you press down and fire to pick up the rock (small or large rocks) which you can then chuck. It's a puzzle platformer and a very good game. I just watched a streamer not realise how to play and wrestle with it for about 30 seconds just like you before declaring it euro jank trash. Be a bit more chill, Erin. I know you don't want to spend too long on the Sega videos but just be calm and logical and think why you can't get past a part. Like Alladin. You are so stressed out about getting past that part, you died maybe 4 times just generally being stressed and as you take damage you mash buttons more and get wound up before declaring something trash or not worthy of your time. You know you're doing it. I'm not standing over you and demanding you figure out how to play games but you are in such a rush to get them off the list. So don't go "I just can't" because I didn't ask you to, firstly. If you are incapable of figuring out games for children then maybe you just shouldn't be a streamer. Just play NES games for your whole streaming career and nobody will complain from your NES fanbase, which is probably most of them. So you not figuring out the gear on Super Monaco almost pushed me over the edge. I guess it was on manual gears which I've literally never seen before in any game, let alone an 8 bit game. So you went around the track about 3 times in 1st gear and declared the game depressing. Kind of not a great stream. I know it's rude to be critical and not give you praise for making the effort but I think you might enjoy your time more if you weren't just so keen to "get it done", move on and do something you would prefer to be doing. Like playing to the NES crowd. Who will take any opportunity to shit on the superior Sega company and the library of it's consoles.

With the a-z streams I play the game for as long or as short as I want to. Like I mentioned, I’m new to 99% of these Game Gear games so I’m not going to be an expert at them going into them blind. Also, sometimes looking at the chat and talking while trying to figure out a game I’ve never played before can be easier said than done. But of course, there’s also some games I’ll just flat out suck at but what can ya do? You seem to think I don’t like Sega games, which isn’t true. I admit I play a lot more NES games but I don’t think me or my audience like to “shit on” Sega, so I’m sorry if you got that impression.

Mike went through the SMS library and raced through everything in two seconds, scoffing at anything and everything he could. He played some sms the other day and spent about an hour on a Tectoy game, ripping into it. It's lame.
