What's funny is the Upright cabinet of this game released in Europe used a 2-way shifter that was powered by a little matrix board that takes two microswitches and then converts it into the 4 outputs expected by the game using the 3 microswitches (no neutral though). There was a fellow on Arcade-Projects who made a repro board, but the original part is notoriously hard to find in good working order (mine only did gears 3 and 4). Basically it lets you play manual in any of the 4-speed Model 2 and 3 driving games on actual hardware without the need of a large h-gate shifter. I've ordered the parts to solder it together.

Please, I don't get the shifter mapped to H2seq. Shifter Up is like "Joystick Button 7" but I don't know how to enter this in the H2seq ini. Can you please tell me how you did this? Or did you use an additional Joy2Key Software?

Where did you bought the sequential shifter?

Curious: If those are strips of ROXUL insulation setup up on end at the left and right on the walls... to control sound transmission to neighboring rooms, how much / what thickness and to what results? ____ This video pleasantly blind-sided me when looking for other content... This video shows the perfect blend of my HMI hardware - a pair of Driving Force GTs - and where I'd eventually like to go with my entertainment value proposition = easy, low- / no-fuss, jump-in entertainment experiences across platforms ( AND it's cheap while minimizing the number of wheels, hardware clutter for racing! ) >>> Thanks for sharing!! Stellar ROI !!

Just2Options? Irrational: FearOrExuberance? The Roxul insulation is being used to tame the the sound. My speakers are super close to the walls and the insulation is there to stop the first and second reflection points in my room. Without them my ears would bleed. Their original intent is to be inside walls to help dampen sound transmission through walls, but they are only effective in the high to at the most, low midrange. If you wanna stop thumping bass they won't do that. They will block the vocal range and higher which is why they're ideal as broadband sound panels. I do not know down to the - dB of which they are effective, but I'd imagine they would make quite an impact inside a wall. As far as linking Sega Rally, I've never had a reason to try. I know you're really into that but I'm usually by myself when I play games so multi-player is never on my mind. BTW what is HMI and ROI?

OldsXCool , Does Sega Rally link up multiple drivers, each on their own screen+consoles ? ... have wondered if linking is possible on anything other than original hardware in this case ( IOW, possible via emu ? ). As a reference: from what I've read, PS1 serial port link and PS2 i-Link / Firewire (the s400 jack) link have to be done with original hardware. With Sega, there's been some system link using modding and workarounds (local direct linking and landline telephone modem as well as broadband connecting all over current infrastructure and protocols I believe). Am curious about legacy console linking sans the PSN and XBL as service constraints but how'd you know I've been interested in the topic? Have I commented on your channel before or searched? ____ XLink Kai takes care of pretty much all the rest via ethernet connection for PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox360 and I believe some older systems possibly. It's been a while since I perused the site for planning my direction and scope. ____ HMI = human machine interface; was at a loss for verbage / verbose when decribing what was on my mind and that jumped out to generally describe any input and output device. ____ ROI = return on investment..

I'm psychic lol. No just kidding. I remember the discussion we had on my Need For Speed for PS1 video that we had after you commented "When it comes to features from NFS on PS1 , why has nobody ever covered the console link experience - aka "Link Mode" - to describe gameplay aspects such as AI cars and other aspects when connecting two PS1 consoles using each to render a full screen perspective of each driver's point of view?" Plus you have one of the most unforgettable screen names. As for linking up consoles, this is not the Sega Saturn version of Sega Rally. This is the arcade version running on the amazing Sega Model 2 emulator. I don't think the Saturn had anyway of linking up to another console. As for the Model 2 emulator I don't know how it handles more than one player or if it's capable of linking to another PC with it's own screen. I think 2 player might run 2 screen simultaneously on the same monitor, but I'm not sure. I think I've seen MAME do that before. BTW thanks for clearing up those acronyms for me. I never would guessed either of those lol.

OldsXCool , Ah, yes! Thank you! I remember now. ____ HMI has come from my experience in batch recipe manufacturing automation, QC and tracking - apologies for quite possibly a stretched cross-pollination of vernacular. Almost forgot about ROXUL products since I was introduced to them on some Canadian home improvement programming I'd watched, waiting for the stuff to make it to my market at the time. Have to revisit pricing out the volume I'm considering for future decorative wall hangings that'll double as absorption panels.

[Appending : ] PS1 serial IO system-linking has been emulated for some time now, apparently, except I've only seen it rendered in a layout of sistered video windows of system-link play shown on the same screen, instead of separate screens.... Now, if it could be successfully executed with 1 PoV per screen..... then over the internet!?! ...That would be the cherry on top! (... Researching & filling in my memory gaps brought me around to particular videos of yours again for which I had to update my comments.) I still grew a grin ear-to-ear watching this SEGA Rally+sequential shifter footage again. 😆 The nostalgia that's still so fun from these classics and now with the renewed shifting shown here as a cheaper, less-cluttered option is so select!

"much like the one in this picture" No that is wrong arcades do not have A reverse or 7th gear, but I do get what you're saying, also you could just buy the logitech G29/G920 Shifter with the adapter for less than $100 for a good cheap H-gate shifter solution

also recommended degrees of turning for Sega rally?, I'd go with 360 to 180 that's a guess though

TheKHfan358over3d No that is not wrong. That picture is of a descrete H gate shifter for PC that I would have had to buy in order to play this game. Most people are able to pick up on that. Plus if you watched the video I said that I don't have a Logitech G25, G27, or G29 so it's not just a cheap upgrade for me. This video is not for people who have H gate shifters. It's for people who don't.

Yeah Like I'm saying there's a cheap way to get a H-gate Shifter, Heck I use a Controller Joystick for a H-gate shifter With Modifications

TheKHfan358over3d Why in the world would I try to find a cheap joystick to destroy I order to make a janky H gate shifter when I have 3 Logitech wheels that all have sequential shifters and a free peice of software that allows me to use them on games that require a H gate shifter? That makes no sense.

yeah good point, I normally don't use the controller solution much though
