I've both these watches and the only data points to add is that the SNK80x series watches are pretty easy to regulate. If mine was losing 3 mins/day it definitely would have gone back to the dealer, but, if it's a hassle just invest in some tools and regulate it yourself. My 807, and now Khaki field as well, can be set to be within 5 secs/day by leaving it overnight in the dial up/down or crown up/down position to speed up or slow down the movement, so in that regard they can be almost as accurate as a quartz movement.

Hmm, I'm not sure about the logic that says the Seiko loses out on servicing price grounds because you could buy a new watch for less than the price of a service.
@theknightswatch5 жыл бұрын
oldbloke135 fair enough. Just kind of the idea that the Hamilton is more logical you service as depending on the service it’ll be cheaper than the watch while the seiko it would make sense to just buy another. And for those who love keeping their watch and maintaining the story and history that that watch has been through. Buying another watch instead doesn’t make too much sense. But to each their own!

Hi, I have the new Seiko 5 military SRPG35K1, and I was surprised with the simility to my freind's Hamilton Kaki Field day date. Currently, the precision is ~+1s/day for my Seiko ^^

when it comes to durability and robustness to endure daily regular unexpected shocks which one is greater? hamilton's or seiko's ? thank youu
@theknightswatch3 жыл бұрын
I would say they are pretty equal, for me the Seiko would win out in this area just because it’s cheaper so if it did break it would be easier to replace

I've owned both first the Seiko 5 now the Hamilton, both are great watches but I feel the Hamilton was a a step up.

Bruce Cameron completely agree. Hamilton just does something special in person. All the little things come together.

I found out about your content from Just Bluefish. I’ve never owned a Seiko 5, but I have an Orient Defender with non hacking, etc. I bet you have fun syncing up the second hand on the Seiko 5, like the Defender. It’s a trip. 🤪 I have your Hamilton model. Mine is 17 secs fast per day. It’s really annoying. I guess that makes it into a “super beater”. Since I bought it from Jomashop I can’t send it to Swatch for warranty, so I just tolerate it. Guess I can pay someone to get it right. Funny. If I magnetize the watch, it runs more accurately, but the power reserve diminishes. I have a cheap degaussing tool. Did your original green Seiko 5 get beat into submission? Good luck to you! RT Curtis my original ran perfectly and was running at +1 second for over a year. I only used it for the gym so I decided to downgrade to a quartz Casio instead just because I felt like some change. Bought the black back solely for the review. You can always try to regulate the watch yourself if your savvy. Just a simple push of the plus or minus to speed or slow it down. Would cost much more to have someone do it. But hey 17 seconds isn’t the worst.

Mario G Thanks. I just looked inside the box and saw a warranty registration card. I’ll call them today to arrange repair. It is annoying to be up to 20 secs fast per day. Maybe they can get it down. Stay safe!

RT Curtis if it’s out of spec they will. As far as I know that watch should be -15/+15

David and goliath brother David and goliath you comparing the $80 watch to a $500 watch could you get a little more Close on cost ha ha Ha ha ha
@theknightswatch3 жыл бұрын
The hamilton can be found pretty consistently in the 200-350 dollar range. Even then I don’t think there is something comparable that lies closer to the Seiko.

@@theknightswatch I just bought the Seco military field watch with a green NATO band, it’s the 42 mm case hundred meter and I got it for 130 ,mine was Japanese made if that means anything to Anybody, to me it’s closer to origin because the watch is Japanese made so I kind a like that. If I wasn’t 58 years old I would buy a Hamilton but I really have to watch my money because I’m semi retired and I live on a fixed and a small retirement so it’s time to stop playing Big have a good day kiddo
