Seiko 5KX Mod to SKX173 - Using A New OEM Seiko Dial to Build a Modern Seiko 5 Sports Watch

After damaging my awesome Seiko SRPD51, the 5KX in blue, I decided I wanted to use that case for a new build. After finding a new OEM Seiko SKX173 dial, I had a vision for the next project. I wanted the look of an original SKX173 on the modern 5KX platform with the updated NH36 movement. This video documents the transformation and build process. I used the following parts for this build:
Case, bezel, crown/stem, hardlex crystal : from the Seiko 5KX SRPD51
Caseback, chapter ring, bezel insert : 3rd party aftermarket
Dial : Seiko SKX173 original
Movement (NH36) and handset : from the Heimdallr SKX v2 homage watch

Curious what you use for grease. I recently had to replace my bezel gasket and click spring and I ended up using Seiko oem parts and seiko silicone grease. Not quite as smooth as I remember it but I maybe just need to use more as I only lightly coated the gasket using a silicone sponge box. I noticed you applied more directly over the gasket along the inside of the bezel and also used a grease in a tube but I couldn't catch the brand. The seiko stuff is pretty sticky and I wonder if I should be using something less viscous but alas I am not very experienced and so that's why I am asking what you use. Thanks and I enjoyed the video. Very creative mod.

I’m pretty sure it’s Danco Silicone grease. It’s a medium viscosity grease and it worked great for this project. I also put a very thin layer on the bottom of the bezel and it feels awesome now. Thanks for the comment!
