Hayao Miyazaki’s Porco Rosso is a story addressing the rise of fascism in post WWI Italy. It's a story about personal change with emphasis on inner growth of morality over the physical one. The way the story was presented left the interpretation of how the character's journey effected him up to the audience.

Saw this after being a longtime Miyazaki fanboy. Could not resist. Sort of a weird watch but with thoughtful touches overall. Art touches culture, a little history, and with fantasy touches. After all this is our dream isn’t it?

Beautiful watch and fascinating back story. If you didn’t know the inspiration, the colours and even the name scream Italian.

Love it. And I love the other Porco Rosso watch (the withe one with the red leather strap) too.

I definitely didn't know this existed. Very cool watch!

That squeaky strap would drive me absolutely nuts. At $3900 I would expect a stainless steel bracelet, although, I don’t know if I trust Seiko to make a decent bracelet or not.

Awesome watch the construction is top notch across the board. Beautiful to look at, high function, what more could you want. Ok maybe a slightly better price point. But it's a limited edition.

Very cool! I initially got Italian racing vibes due to the color on the dial and strap.

I remember seeing this when it came out a few years ago. Really liked it back then. Cool look and the colors. But, the price. You can definitely find a handful of microbrands that use the Seiko Instruments equivalent 8R48 chronograph movement for significantly less around $1.25k. Funny how back then I felt around $3k for a Seiko automatic chronograph movement was too expensive back then.. still kind of is today. But, I did end up with a limited edition Seiko with the 8R48 in my collection today and I did pay around $3k. Btw, the 8R48 so far has been a very solid movement and been very accurate, too... Approx. +1 s/d on average.

Yes indeed, the movement is so so resilient. Plus I just love the juxtaposition of the 'major' 1/8th of a second 1920-30s crescent ended. Then at 6 o' clock, we have a quartz- like ' minor' second second hand sub-dial! Awesome just awesome.😮😊❤🙏🆒

Amazing! I'm a huge Miyazaki fan (esp. Spirited Away, which I think is the best animated film ever made), and would love to own this. I have the SRQ39 though and it's great, so I'll content myself with that... for now. :)

You might notice that the seconds dial actually is using a propeller to mark off time. Obviously a reference to his plane. I’ve never seen that before.

I love this watch! The enamel dial, the propeller small seconds, the fact that the Porco Rosso design elements are tastefully done (apart from on the back of the watch!). It's just when you get to this price point, it's nudging on Grand Seiko territory, which makes the decision a bit trickier - only a little more for a Grand Seiko spring drive (I mean on a deal or on the grey market). I would love to own this watch one day though. Shame there are only 600!

A pig that doesn’t fly is just a pig! Nearly pulled the trigger on this watch . The dial is lush but the thickness of the case height put me off. There’s another time only white dial version.

Another overpriced LE by seiko. Can't bear to look at the uneven enamel dial surface especially for the sub-dials. It looks quite bad when the light hits the dial surface and gets reflected. The 8R48 movement is accurate but thick, and some 8R48 seem to have an issue of movement not starting from zero PR even after winding. Not sure if it is because of lack of lube out of factory. There is still much to do by Seiko for its QC and after-sale service for charging such exorbitant prices. The service centres are nightmare and stressful to deal with.

And yet they won't sign their normal crowns with an S. Completely over Seiko and their nonsense. Glad to see that instead of making a modern Pogue, they've busied themselves with a man pig watch.
