Before buying the Seiko SBDC101 I was eager to know the differences between the current SKX that I owned and the SBDC101 that I aspired to own but never tried in person. I did my homework on the SBDC101 and wanted a justification onto why it costed over $1000 and I found all the answers and immediately pulled the trigger and bought the SBDC101. Really useful this. I am considering a SPB143J1 and your side by side with the SKX which of course I own (with both 007 and 009 bezels which I swap out) gives me a great idea about size. Of course the best thing is about Seiko is that THE FINANCE DIRECTOR (SWMBO) just thinks its 'another Seiko' and doesn't keep track of how many Seikos and as I cleverly bought her a Seiko and the 2 kids Seiko 5s then she ...sssshhhh.... doesn't get that Seikos can be 80 quid or 8000 quid 😁😁😉

SBDC101 should have a 6r35 inside (70 hour reserve), not the 6r15 (50 hour reserve), if I'm not mistaken. A beautiful watch and a very nice comparison, thank you :)

Yes I might do that soon but for the SKX .. it was not easy changing the bracelet so I just kept the aftermarket bracelet so quick-changes were not an option anymore. Thanks for the suggestion though!

The skx is more charming to me.. it has the wabi sabi beauty and timeless classic feel..

Personality wise, the skx007 offers more IMO. The 62mas look is as it is since the very first version, a very ‘normal’ looking watch. Some will like it.

I prefer the SPB143 over the SKX because of the manual winding as well as build quality but I respect your opinion👍🏻

@@LocalWatchGuy yep, the problem with the SKX is if you want to keep it you invariably end up spending money on a sapphire, a ceramic and a movement upgrade, which adds about 200 US to the cost if you get someone else to swap out the crystal. I only tinker with non divers, the only diver I tinker with are Vostocks due to their pressure activated Seals, you can get away without a pressure test.

No offence to anyone but this is a no contest, the SPB143 is way better than the SKX in every way. Its like comparing an Audi to a Skoda. Both watches tell the time just like both cars will get you from A to B.

Absolutely incorrect....the SPB is simply a reissue of an icon The skx IS an icon,specs mean nothing,the skx is far and away the better piece

One of them is a re-issue of an iconic watch... The other one IS an iconic watch... The skx wins hands down,specs aren't everything

My first seiko's were the 007 and 009, they are great watches and can take a really good beating as daily watches but compare nothing to the SPB143

Strange but off the wrist the 007 looks a lot bigger than the 143 but on the wrist the 143 looks bigger
