This watch features a unique design in which the minute and hour hands are placed onto rotating discs and the time is read using the hour markers on the bezel. The case, bezel, back, and bracelet are all made of stainless steel making for a heavy but premium feel to this collaboration timepiece.

Cool look, I love how it's starkly non traditional yet still legible. Can't help but agree that the hours should be the inner disk and the minutes should be the outer disk. Thanks for an entertaining review of a watch I wouldn't have seen otherwise!

Big Seiko fan here but as much as I like Miyake's work, this one just doesnt do it for me... bit uninspiring IMO, minimalism doesn't have to be bland/generic and that is what this one seems to me. So much so it could perfectly pass for one of those MVMNT and the like And that is a shame, bc the build definitely gives quality but the design is just... meh And then, there is the price: 300$ for quartz movement and mineral glass is just ridiculous Great video/review, btw. Perfectly lit & shot, good audio quality and to the point. Fun fact: Issey Miyake is the person that came up with Steve Jobs' iconic "uniform" with the bllack turtle neck (which he made specifically for him) and 501's

Superb use of lighting. And that thumbnail is perfect. I would rationalize that reversing the handstack in order to make the hour disc turn in the middle would have required Seiko to develop a custom movement.

I agree with mybrainlikesthings: Very good technical quality in this video. Many other channels, even "renowned" ones, do not have such good image quality and lighting. Keep it up. And please show more watches like this, interesting and off the radar of most people.

All my videos are shot on a oneplus 7 pro! I tried using my current iPhone 15 pro but it doesn't seem to capture details the same way as my old phone

I rather do love some of the Issey Miyake watches from the early 2000's, including your NY0N001, especially made by Seiko Instruments! Between 2005 and 2008, I purchased the Issey Miyake Ovo in black (SILAR003); one of the weirdest and coolest design-led timepieces made (but not especially good horology) with decent Seiko movement, all made by then Seiko Instruments. The hands run from the outside of the dial, with the hour and minute markers on underneath the bezel and pointing inwards towards the center of the dial. It was my first introduction to unusual watches, which led my interest into independent and popular watch brands. Sadly, my Ovo no longer works, and the urethene rubber bracelet is broken, but I still treasure my then time with it back in university. Currently wear and enjoy my two-mechanical collection of Omega Constellation Globemaster Co-Axial Master Chronometer and Tudor North Flag, which are life keepers!

I like it, that no lugs remind me of the OG Mido Commander. I would like to see some more contrast, maybe color the bezel markings the same as the hour/min.

Miyake is a creative grandmaster when compared to Kors. Kors though is leagues above (and more legendary than) Kate.

The comparison I was making is that all 3 are brands named by their respective fashion designer. All 3 sell watches as part of their brand but none of them focus on watches.

Just to note, this design was by Tokujin Yoshioka. Issey Miyake by that time was running a design studio, employing a number of designers.

Very interested to know if the movement has been altered for higher torque on the hands. Moving those discs would take a lot more effort than simple hands.

It's sad that watches that look good cost over 1k+. MAMACOO watches are REALLY well made, and it just shows how a brand name on a watch can make its price 10x higher. I understand that if you look under a microscope, you'll find the difference, but just how many of you really inspect a watch at that level when you see someone with a watch?

Definitely not a watch for low-light conditions. A strip of Lum in the indices grooves might have helped.

Man, they really messed this up didn’t they? They have it backwards. The outer ring needs to be the minutes and the entering should be the hour.

My guess is that moving that outer ring takes a lot of energy since it's further away from the center. To avoid the battery dying quickly, they flipped the order of the discs.

Having minutes on the inside and hours on the outside adds nothing but the risk of confusion. Inner disc should be hours. Outer should be minutes. Poor design in what is otherwise excellent. They should have made just that one minimal concession to the fundamental design language of essentially all non-digital watches as it is now and as it has been for probably 200 years. It would have avoided confusion without in any way sacrificing the iconoclastic style choices.
