Seized Audi 3.0 TFSI Full Breakdown | What Caused It?

Bought this 09 Audi A6 with a seized 3.0T engine under the guise that it just needed a starter or an access module to activate it. The previous owner replaced the starter and still nothing when turning the key over. Turns out the engine was seized and that's why the starter wouldn't rotate the engine.
In this video I will be tearing down the already removed engine and finding out exactly why it failed. We will also be cutting the lower girdle off to remove the torque converter since its seized and won't rotate to allow access to the bolts.
This is part 2 of a 3-part series consisting of a removal video, a teardown video, and finally a reinstallation video with a freshened up used engine.

This has to be why they lost 2 world wars right? Haha! I've totally stripped a TC bolt before too and had to pull the converter out with the engine. What a pain in the ass! We're you able to get yours off?

Did you ever put the new engine back in? I was looking for the next video, I am getting ready to install engine assembly in my a7 that was seized and was curious about the fluid lost from the tranny. Wondering if I should pre fill torque converter?

Am thinking to get a Q7 sline prestige I tested drive it already it has the same engine but to be honest Audi vw cars are beautiful

That's our next car. Been wanting a Q7 since we had a kid and need more room. Try to get 2014 or newer if possible. Less issues from what I'm seeing. Much more updated than this 09 3.0 for sure. Only things I've heard is they go through tires and brakes quickly due to their size.

I'm just think of what to do to precent mine from similar scenario.... I think changing oil at 4k miles, new PCV, thermostat, checking the charger cores......and yet still an injector might burst into a cylinder... :)

Yeah for sure, or the HPFP can fail and leak gas inside as well.

@@Mechani_Cole Yeah, I forgot about that also :( And even I have a bit of a slow start witch might be the HPFP exactly... I don't know if it's financially sound to do all of that for prevention only...

My 2012 A6 had a gas smell on the oil, and slow crank in the morning, changed hpfp and solve issue..running great now. 120k miles and next I'll do apr coils...and probability stage 1

@luiszubillaga1463 I've heard that is a common issue for sure. I'm pretty sure on this engine the supercharger packs leaked coolant into the engine and locked it up. Good thing you caught yours early enough✌🏼
