Welcome to the club. I haven't watched a minute of "traditional" TV for 3-4 years now. You'll find far better quality and more entertaining content online. Same, '73 Gran Torino with the Cleveland. 12-13 around town, 20 on the highway. One of only two cars I really miss. '73 Clevelands were only like 150HP because of the low compression necessary for the crude emissions control.

I've owned and driven 2 of these cars. I knew from the beginning that you'd make it home. I had two of these Ford Elite, '75 and '76, when I was in tha States 30 years ago. Great cars indeed, except the lack of fuel mileage. Enjoyed them a lot! Greeting from Taiwan, the Republic of China. :)
@70sleftover4 жыл бұрын
@@materials1000 The fuel mileage wasn't a consideration for a lot of people after the first Energy Crisis was over by '75 (although the price of gasoline about doubled from 29 cents per gallon to about 55 cents per gallon!). I think these cars seemed relatively small in comparison to the huge full-size cars you could buy in the U.S. back then. In fact, in an answer to "downsizing" their Torino, in 1977 Ford decided to introduce the LTDII which had a hood so long it looked about the length of the entire Torino Elite. It was a heavy-looking plain thing that looked big but not as stylized as the Torino and especially the Elite.

@@bloodybones63 Yes it doesn't seem like an Elite would not have at least power windows. I do remember them having really nice interiors, kinda soft nylon. He is correct, the gauge package was an option also available in the Gran Torino. I lived that era. some great cars but...Very few cars had full power as standard equipment back then. Caddy's, Lincolns, Some Mercury Marquis', Buick Electra 225, Olds 98, Imperial and Thunderbird-'till 76 were the primary ones. They all had so many different "packages" on different models back then that some of the power options were included in. It was messy, but in a nice way. You could order just about anything you wanted on most things, with the money of course. Tilt wheels were even rare except on the above list. Seems so strange now that I just cannot imagine not having tilt, cruise and power everything. I have a 1983 Grand Marquis LS with everything except a sun roof, 38000 miles. I think I'll keep it.

We use to run this body on a Nascar Late Model from the early 80s until the late 80s Then the rules changed and we could run a fiberglass Thunderbird body. I always liked the way that car stood out against all the GM square body cars. Out of like 40 cars we had the only Ford. Track was in the Southern Tier of N.Y. Shangri-la Speedway. Ritchie Evabs Bodines and Jimmy Spencer ran there weekly. This vid brought back some memories . Thanks

I unironically covered over a dash warning light for a airbag (a vehicle test fail here) with a few careful layers of permanent marker or sharpie, and it worked, the tester didn't notice the light and it passed 🤪 I've also loosened the plastic cowel(?!) around a instrument cluster in a more modern car, added a couple of wood spacers, and managed to cut off the whole bottom row of warning lights including the ABS and airbag lights, both test fails 😬 Just on my personal cars, I didn't sell either of them 🙃
