I have to agree with Hollywood the sound of the C-5 cannot be duplicated. That sound never gets old. The B-52 bomber is another one which I have never seen in person, but is truly amazing how something so old is still flying. You have to love USAF. The pilots are amazing.🇺🇸🇺🇸🫡🫡

C-5B galaxies and C-17As are a common sight here in Fayettville NC live right next to Ft Bragg and Pope feild which used to be Pope AFB, before Pope closed C-130s, A-10s avd F-16s were all based there, love watching those huge beasts take off and land and just the sound of the galaxies engines give me goosebumps!!

Got lost somewhere north of Atlanta just after moving there one night and was just driving along and a C5 on final flew just over the the road I was on and I just about crashed into a tree and shit my pants all at once. The sound and scream from the turbines on these is amazing.

The C-5A/B Galaxies were second to none in terms of coolness in my opinion (not even the C-5M). Those TF-39 engines were the kings of that true "heavy" sound!

I totally agree Michael. You just can't beat that TF39 sound, I especially loved the spool up sound as the thrust reversers deployed 😍 I do wonder if the re-engined B-52s will loose some of their mojo as well :(

Just cutting the moisture in the air. Happens alot with high humidity.

Aeronautist vortices form off the ends of wings and blades cutting through the air. Like SirWtf mentioned, you can observe the vortices because of the humidity. Also they are clearly observable on the F-18 at around 12:20 and even on the B-52 earlier in the video if you know what to look for (you can see the exhaust getting caught up in the vortices). 👍🏼

The C-5 is now the C-5M and they retired the GE engines sometime in the year of 2016

Yeah officially retired then, they started being phased out in 2008 I believe. Only the reserves and guard had the old TF39s, all the active duty jets had CF6s.

The reality is the crew are incredibly intelligent and so well trained they are at the top of the trade its not just flying this giant bird it's the whole situation where they have the ability to be so sharp

I remember Rotodynes flying over & around us when I was a child. They're not so much loud, as a force of nature. :) It was the rotor-tip ram-jets that really hurt your ears. We lived under an RAF exercise area near an RAF base, so saw all sorts of stuff.
