I hope Selena was not like some people in Corpus Christi that I met while I was Visiting. I assumed they were Mexican Americans and they got offended and said they were Spaniards 😅😅😅😅 they look like they could of be born in Mexico or Central America, funny how they eat Mexican food and almost same culture as people south of the border. Is must be south texas thing , because I read Eva longoria has the same problem looks full Mexican and Sis and Mom look Mexican with heavy Asian features, like most tejanos so called Hispanics it must be inferiority complex too😅😅😅😅

I don’t think people truly understand how important and iconic Selena is? This young lady broke so many barriers at such a young age. The first Latina to successfully crossover from tejano to English… she’s the reason we have the Shakira’s add the Ricky martins. The love she had for her fans was like nothing you’d ever seen. I was lucky to experience one of her first concerts in 1994 and she paved the way for a lot of our favs

I also want to add that her importance in addition to her voice and music was that she was BROWN and curvy. Her Latina contemporaries were white, light skin Latinas who sang pop music. It was nice to see an icon singing Tejano and Mexican music who also looked like her people.

¡Viva el USA! 🇲🇽🇺🇸 I always think of Selena showcasing here, her American roots. I saw her on Nov/Dec, ¹94, at the Lakeland Civic Center, in Lakeland Florida. I was blown away by her presence and how people reacted to her. I had never seen that before. I've never seen it since. I had no idea who she was. I was 16 years old. All the cousins had to go to the baile, together. So I went. I think it was $15 for the concert/baile. I had already gone to other bailes, they weren't my cup of tea. The people went crazy, they jumped on the tables. I thought maybe there were fighting, but no, it was for Selena. I was shocked to hear her speak English, yet sang in Spanish. I remember there was a white guy, in a cowboy hat, that she brought up on stage. The guy didn't speak Spa, so she'd tell him in Eng and talk to the audience in Spanish. I only remember that one song from the concert, "Qué Creías".

She wasn’t but she was so close to being the biggest latin artist of the 90s until her untimely death. Gloria Estefan was still the biggest and most recognizable name, especially because she was a successful crossover artist. She would’ve easily surpassed her had she gotten the chance.

Selena was IN LOVE with Disco and her biggest role model was Donna Summer. She was amazing and she had so much versatility in her voice. She was so unique. Everyone fell in love with her in everything she did and she is a HUGE figure not just in the latin community but to everyone who listens to her. Life is so unfair at times, sometimes people who you can't get enough of, are no longer here. She would of rocked it if she were still alive. She was the IT girl. People are still remembering her and falling in love with her. My mom said she used to have so many men and woman romantically fall in love with her because her inner and outer beauty was captivating. She is the type of girl that so many wish to be.
