If you have been to her museum you can feel her life, her career, but what's sad is that you can feel her family's pain. We went the day before her death anniversary a few years back and her dad gave the group we were in a tour which was awesome, but at the end he went to go sit in his office, and he was just doing paperwork at his desk, so we just started looking around where her glass clothing is in case at and his door was open, so my family and I thanked him , and you could feel that he was sad and heartbroken, little did I know the next day it was her death anniversary, it was so heartbreaking to see the hurt he carries with him.

I was 15 in New Orleans when she died. I heard her music prior to her death from my friend’s family in the neighborhood, who are Mexican-American. They would play her songs a lot at family gatherings, but that cross-over album made me realize that she was definitely going to make a lane for herself.
