I am so sad. Your channel was recommended by another KZbinr and I fell in love with it after the first viewing. I started watching from the start of the "Boat Life" chapter and was hooked. Then I went back to the very beginning and watched them all in order. It was such a pleasure knowing that I would have a video (or two or three) I could watch each day. Unfortunately, I have just reached the end of them, and must now suffer the excruciating pain of waiting AN ENTIRE WEEK for the next one to be released. Hurry!

Who would have thought listening to power tools could be so relaxing. Jits into the sunset put us onto you guys, and I'm so glad they did. Your slow paced editing and attention to detail when it comes to shooting, audio, and storytelling makes for such a pleasurable experience to watch, no matter the content. I mean, I haven't a clue about boats or any interest in them really, yet I'm loving catching up on the back catalogue! And don't even get me started on Iceland. Gregor is a dream machine, and I'm enjoying your take on travel there so much. Thanks for the effort you both put into each and every one of your videos : ) Kim

Tobago, Tobago, Tobago!!! My partner (in sailing and in life) went to Tobago in 2019 and it was perfect in every way 😁 It was our first trip to the Carib and we would go back in a heart beat! It’s out of the hurricane belt, has incredible food and local grown produce and some of the friendly people in the whole world!!! Lots of snorkeling and the whole north of the island is near-mountainous nature reserve!!! You will not be disappointed!!! 🙏❤️😁❤️🙏

Dana and Lou thank you for your wonderful videos! I wanted to chime in about the plants (one of my favorite self-care weekend activities is puttering with my houseplants). The palm has spider mites which are extremely hard to completely eradicate. Don’t let that plant anywhere near your other beautiful plant friends as they can easily spread (like during watering in the sink). You could try to cure the palm with a severe pruning and multiple washes with horticultural soap/organic pest treatments but I’m quite experienced and have not been successful in saving a plant that far gone. I share your happiness in the unfurling of new foliage and want to make sure your healthy growing plants stay safe :) love Dana

Bamboo palms LOVE humidity so you might just need to mist it or when you water it, do so in the shower. Better yet, every now and then bring it into the bathroom with you and let it soak up that steam! Definitely remove the brown leaves if you can and if you see mites gently wash with soapy water.

Your palm has spider mites. They thrive during dry winters and hate moisture. So if you can take them in the shower and hose it down it will help. Or mist it regularly. Don't know what's wrong with the Bird of Paradise. But your Monstera Deliciosa looks super happy! Hi from Canada!

Your plant issue I’d say is spider mites. You can treat it with a heavily diluted mixture of water and soap and wiping all of the leaves down consistently. There are also insecticidal soaps you can buy!
@LubaDovjenko3 жыл бұрын
The mites hate moisture. I had the same issue with my lamp. Mist it often, and if you have a humidifier to setup that'll do wonders. Trim any leaves that don't look like they are doing well, it'll help the plant recover instead of wasting energy trying to keep those sick leaves alive. Best of luck!

Be careful collecting on pebble beaches. What people don't understand is that the pebbles always work to the surface, so most pebble beaches have only a top layer of pebbles. One of my favorite places Montana del Oro State Park (in California) has a beach at Spooner's Cove. It used to be covered in pebbles, which made unique and beautiful, but over about 20 years it's pebbles have all been poached leaving just the sand. The way pebbles, rocks and in my driveway, nails work to the surface is any movement of the soil, even swelling from infrequent rain moves the soil. Tiny bits will fill any gaps that open up under bigger bits. Over time, it doesn't take long, the bigger bits will work their way to the surface. This can be why some larger rocks end up on the surface, it's also why you have to dig to get to clay, clay is the super fine bits that fill in under everything else. On some famous corbel or shingle beaches like Chesil Beach in Dorset, England it is against the law to collect stones. Farther west along the south coast of England, near Lyme Regis you can collect as many fossils as you want, so long as anything special you might come across, you show to the local museum. But a rock or a pebble here and there.. it's the buckets and the bags, 'Oh I just want to do my front yard....'

"Plant care". If your shower is not above your bath, sit your "unwell" plant in the bath and give it a few days of a steamy atmosphere from your showers. If your shower is over the bath just stand them on the floor, but sit them in a basin or on a saucer as they tend to dribble a bit, as the leaves condense the steam. Don't take them out and in of the bathroom leave them there as the varying, hot/steamy, cool/dark, over a few days, up to a week, will discourage most "mites and spiders". Even if your plant is not sick, they will get the benefit, as the steam will wash the leaves even the nooks and crannies that you don't reach if you wipe the leaves. If they are jaggy plants, beware you do not spike your bare bum on them.!! Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos.

Once you understand that there are three parts to a chess game, it makes it easier to digest. In the opening you want to get your minor pieces active, but don’t over extend your pawns. Keeping good pawn structure is crucial for the end game. In the middle game try to control the center of the board. If you are trading pieces, try to trade pieces of equal value. Trading a rook for anything other than a queen or another rook is bad. Bishops are generally seen to be slightly more valuable than knights because the long distances they can control. In the end game, you want to attempt to protect your pawns that hopefully you have managed to slowly move up the board, so that you can get one to the other side of the board to promote it to a queen. If you’ve traded queens, promoted a pawn to a queen, it’s lights out for Lou. SV Flekk

Do some research on spider mites. We made a special neem oil spray to get rid of them. I don't have any great news about the palm. Over the past year we have had 2 palms and both died. I think it's from humidity level, and cold temps even though we keep our home at 70F

Love your videos! That palm-looking plant is really hard... we had 80 plants in our 2 room apartment for a while. And that one isn't easy, I've killed a few. If anyone wants to correct me, feel free to do so, cause Im no expert. But I think it wants to be showered very often, and treated with pesticides for these spider-creatures (dont know their name in english). In sweden we have a green soap that is environmentally friendly. I mixed it with water and sprayed down the whole plant, then the next day I would rinse it all off again. But I had to do that pretty much weekly, so eventually I just decided it was too much work and gave up on owning it. Also, those spiders WILL spread to other plants standing nearby. Good luck! And oh yes, the joy a simple new leaf can bring 😍

Such a nice calming video guys! Love all your book tips, you got me hooked on Cal Newport. Also, I agree with the tips provided in the comments regarding your areca palm with spider mites. The only other thing I would say is that in my experience these plants love staying moist, so I wouldn't let the soil dry down too much. It'll tell you pretty quickly that it's too dry, like the crispy leaves, and a stressed plant will be more vulnerable to mites/pests etc. I mist mine regularly to avoid mites, but regular showers would probably be the ultimate. The chess must really put you guys in the zone, oooh i just read this on healthline: (paraphrasing) Chess has many cognitive benefits, including the ability to improve your intelligence, empathy and memory among other benefits. Besides the fact that you totally enjoy it :) Thanks guys!

@@WildWeRoam This fascinates me :D "The areca palm has one of the highest transpiration rates of any houseplant and is especially effective at adding moisture to indoor air.
