shotokankarateo... A boxer, thai boxer or mixed martial artist must always hit with intent, because if the do not strike with intent, it's all over!
I know it sounds nasty and most people find this very hard, but your kicks, punches and strikes, must WANT to destroy the target.
I also appreciate that a lot of people do not want to stand toe to toe with another fighter and slug it out.
Now, to be honest there is nothing better than fighting another person in a full contact fight with no rules, but there is also exercises you can do that will stengthen your techniques and add venom.
A full contact fighter will apply this 'intent to do harm' with just about, every kick, punch and strike they make. They simply want to destroy whatever they hit!
Yet, many (not all) karateka, all over the world, have no idea how to strike hard.
So if you are practicing in a karate Dojo, or practicing karate at home, you need to not only make sure you have good technique and accuracy, but you MUST strike with power and venom.
To start with use a bit of imagination, when you are hitting a punch bag, focus pads, or kick shields. Try different imagination techniques, imagine the object you strike is your worst enemy, imagine your family is in danger, whatever you do, when hitting a punch bag, focus pads, or kick shield, you must not only destroy the pad or bags, you must also try and destroy whatever is holding them!

Kudos for the video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Chireetler Dread Free Rule (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great one of a kind product for learning effective self defence moves minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my buddy after a lifetime of fighting got excellent success with it.

Shotokan Karate was my core System before moving on to Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, for years hadn't been on any school, then one day while doing some banking as I was leaving I glanced over and noticed the VIP Karate School now had a new name, one that has since been changed, according to someone I trained there with it's due to a divorce between the instructor and his Wife who also was there, I don't know what the story is for sure, either way, I drove back around and saw on the sign Bruce Lee's art. That was all I needed to know.

It more looks like kyokushin than shotokan
@johndarby6407
@johndarby6407 6 жыл бұрын
Kyokushin punch only the body, it's training not the street, the punching here is done to the chest for safety. So yes it looks the same. If you are looking for the long stances of Shotokan, that's used for basic training and kata, advanced training and fighting are done in natural stance too. The core message.. Hit with intent! Excellent advice, Your attacker will have adrenalin and endorphins coursing through their body, pain is less likely to stop them, you must do damage in order to bring the fight to an end. Do it quickly, so as not to tire and if they have friends, do not get caught up in the wrestling game, you will lose. It doesn't matter what style you know, or don't know, when you have decided you have no choices left and you must fight.. don't hold back.

@cmn2509

Having trained both, Kyokushin has more in common with Shotokan than different. As others mentioned, it also has a Goju Ryu heritage. I wouldn't say it's primarily Goju - though there probably are more Goju katas. Yes, in competition, Kyokushin doesn't punch the face, but as the narrator notes, the demonstrator is punching the chest for safety. Same thing. In competition, Shotokan doesn't punch with power, regardless of target (speed, but no impact), and Kyokushin does train head shots in kata, kihon, and drills. At the end of the day, all fruit of the same tree.

@@johndarby6407 Sir, in kyokushin we have punches in the face, and the self defense is like the video. We have all strikes with the hand foot knee elbows and head. Hard conditioning, ibuki , meditation, tameshiwari, katas from shotokan goju ryu and others from Chinese roots. And is 100% for the street. Regards Osu
