About Honest Tea Talk
with Aliyah, LaYinka & Sumayah
Inspired by Jada Pinkett-Smith's 'Red Table Talk', 3 Muslim women have set up a platform to speak openly and honestly, giving viewers an unedited insight into the minds and life of Muslim women. Honest Tea Talk brings deep and often unspoken topics to the table to lay down our masks and start much-needed discussions about matters related to Muslim women and the ummah at large.

As a revert who was once Christian I grew up being taught God loves me because he is worthy, and God forgives me because he is great. But learning Islam is discovering a whole new world. My sins don't hurt God, they hurt me. God is so much more great and meriful than I ever knew. This discussion brings lots of things needed thinking over. Thank you.

Those Christian teachings you were taught are actually not accurate. God loves us because He is loving because that is His nature. God forgives us because He is forgiving. Jesus really did live, He really did die, He really did rise 3 days later, and His whole being really was prophesized 700 years prior to His birth. The enemy's favorite trick is to water down scripture and alter your view of God.

@@nourishedheiress did not intend to write this at first but your comment kinda triggered a question. I hope you don't take it in any other sense. Why did God have to sacrifice himself to forgive us? I mean, a God is almighty so why does He have to give something up in order to save us?
@nourishedheiress
@nourishedheiress 3 жыл бұрын
@@callistomalady6084 Don’t worry, I love answering these kinds of questions. It’s important to try to understand the truth about Jesus instead of purposefully not trying to understand. To answer your question, Jesus didn't have to do anything, He actually chose to sacrifice himself for the sins of those who believe in Him. Let me answer why He chose to do so. God created us to be in relationship with Him, He didn't need us but He wanted us. Unfortunately, during the time of Adam and Eve sin entered the world for the first time in history. This caused us to be separated in a relationship with God because humans because inherently evil and God is holy and righteous. We are all in the power of sin due to our free will. For this reason, God brought forward the Israelites as His chosen people to bring the world salvation through Jesus. God promised Abraham's offspring the land of Israel. God also promised Abraham to be a father to many nations. Then God gave the Israelites the law of Moses; the law didn't allow the Israelites to become righteous in God's eyes through its works but instead "through the law [they] became conscious of sin." (Romans 3:20). God had the Israelites sacrifice lambs and other chosen animals for atonement of sin. Back then the only place to worship God was at His temple. The temple was the only place where God dwelt because the rest of the world was s dirty of sin, at least in the temple the people were becoming aware of their sin. Throughout the Old Testament God spoke to His people through prophets. The prophets prophesized many wars, exiles, punishments, and much more, but most importantly the prophets prophesied the coming of Jesus. Jesus was to be the ultimate sacrificial lamb of God, and Jesus became just that. Throughout the Old Testament such as in the Book of Isaiah, Daniel, Psalms, and many more, we see Jesus being promised to the world. God didn't want JUST the Israelites to be saved, God wanted the whole world so be saved. So God fulfilled prophecies so that we may have a revelation of Him, His requirements, and His plans. So now that I gave you that short history I can really explain Jesus coming to earth and dying on the cross. In the book of Isaiah God prophesied Jesus and the salvation of the entire world from sin. "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light to the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach the ends of the earth." (Isaiah 49:6 written 700 years before the birth of Jesus) Then also in Isaiah 42:1 God says: "Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations." Isaiah 42:6 "I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open the eyes of the blind, to free the captives from prison, and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness." I love the Book of Isaiah because everything really did come true. Isaiah said Jesus would be born of David's descendants, born to a virgin, heal the blind, sick, be a light to the Gentiles, etc. All of that happened so that we may believe in Jesus. Jesus wants us to be in relationship with Him for all eternity. So all we have to do is "confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) God, Jesus, already did the work on the cross, so all we need to do is have faith in Him. Having faith allows the Holy Spirit to enter our body and reside in us. " Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? " (1 Corinthians 6:19) So since the Spirit lives in us we are transformed into a new creation. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17) I used to do so many bad things before finding the love of Jesus; I did drugs (cannabis, ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms), I had many relations with men, I was evil because I gossiped and envied--meanwhile all of this was happening I knew there was a God and I was looking for Him but through drugs. Then one day I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the radio and at that moment I knew that this was the truth. Later, someone at school told me "Jesus loves you" and I said "thank you! " Then the girl who told me that asked me if I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and I said no, so right there at school I accepted Him. The girl urged me to get to know God and offered me her Bible. I told her I would buy my own Bible so I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a Bible. I've been studying God's Word ever since but most importantly I have a relationship with God. I pray to God and I feel His love for me. God transformed me into a new creation. I used to smoke cannabis 10x's a day for ten years and one day God told me to quit relying on cannabis and instead rely on Him--so I did! :D haven't smoked ever since!!!! So in conclusion, Jesus was a sacrifice so that an end of death could happen. We have the choice to believe the truth and walk like Jesus, or we have the choice to deny Him. Those who deny Him are not forgiven of their sins since they never accepted Jesus. Accepting Jesus helps us get salvation, number one. But also, accepting Jesus helps us walk like Jesus and do good for the world by feeding the poor, helping the needy, the lonely, the lost, and helping others come to Jesus so that they may be saved. There is no love like the love of Jesus. God loves us so much that He came down to earth so that we may know Him and walk with Him. Let me know if you have anymore questions :)

When you grow up not having the love of your parents in whatever way, it really does boil down and affect you no matter how strong and empowered you think you are. Great topic but the issue of the husband/wife was not mentioned....there are many sisters who were aware of their self worth and after marriage completely lost it. It doesn't even have to be an abusive issue, but sometimes the man is controlling and intent on 'moulding' his wife into how he wants and she loses herself and over times begins to hate herself. Many children grow up witnessing this (this was mentioned) and it has a big effect on how they not only perceive themselves in the future, but on how they view their parents. It is very easy to say that you have to love yourself, but sometimes there are barriers in the way that hinder this and this is the real issue that would be great to see you addressing. Totally agree . I have been married for 32years. I am51.the first few years I was careful about my space, my beliefs. Standing up for myself..but he taught me to stand up for myself .fast forward he lived his dreams. I was there all along. One was to have two wives. Except most of the time she we were struggling financially. A few years before he got married. I saw a a man, normally got tempered, became almost abusive. He would verbally abuse me and for the first time I was scared of him. Part of me was silently raging at my life. At this monotony. Well he got married blamed me. Said things like you r mad. You r menopauseal. You r a bad wife. Programs like these thought me about self love. words like validation, boundaries. Never heard of them until now. It's been a hard journey, I have started to heal but I cannot leave. No money. Sorry for the long msg. Lesson live for Allah. When a man has to man has too many dreams be careful. He will use you cause you love him. When he got married I suddenly could not see the point of my life. I wanted to commit suicide. I realise OK had never done anything for me. And the place I live. Don't even start

I had acne for many years and I feel you, if you want to get rid of it forever try this. Do not consume any dairy( no milk, yogourt, cheese , cream ) its not forever just until your hormones normalize and acne is gone then you can tr to reintroduce it. Eliminate all processed foods ( anything in a box or plastic container ) just eat real food , meat,vegetables and fruit . Take some adaptogens like ashwaghanda and maca , those level your hormones . If you do all this and maybe workout a bit to sweat and get things moving inshaAllah it will start to go away and then never come back. It is a bit hard but worth it because not only you will look a lot better but also feel alot better. Do not use antibiotics or antibacterial creams on your face and where ever you have acne because that also kill the good bacteria just wash your face with something organic and gentle until it resolves inshaAllah.

Self love is hard for those who were always treated like crap or taken advantage of. No one chooses out of choice to feel so low of themselves. Yes everyone has moments but then there are people who are emotionally damaged due to getting picked on badly or some were seen as the dumb little thing all their lives or some siblings are seen as good looking or the intelligent one and another might not be known to be good at anything to the outside world despite being good at things so outside influences can damage peoples self esteem. The ones who are lucky are those who are popular or got attention in their lives so their fates sided by them where as there's others who are on the opposite end who had bad childhoods or who were always lonely souls and lacked attention and this leads to seeking validation from others and people get personality disorders like this so everyones fate is different

Self-love is being comfortable with setting boundaries, knowing your own values and removing toxic people in my life. Also, I didn't know the influence of father's role in self loving of girls as my father left us when I was a 6 month baby. I love these honest talks! The word "kun" be and we are worth being here really opens up the thought that our existence in this earth is for a sole purpose. And to go through the trials and tests, the hope of his love and mercy is a great thing. Subhanallah without which we can never ever be guided throughout our trials. May Allah accept your efforts !

parents, their own relationship and your relationship with them have a great influence on your self-worth. in my case there was a strong bond with my father and a great rejection of my mother. then my father died and my youth took a heavy toll. that has influenced my life to this day. I‘m 39 now. a lot of therapy and medication ... i just feel rejection against myself Although I should be grateful ... cause I'm a revert. Subhan'Allah. Thank you for this video. May Allah swt bless you ☝🏽
