Hence the “rebuttal” book. I agreee it’s important to PUT the BUT in the RIGHT spot. You need to make sure you acknowledge the reasons someone might be apprehensive to buy, say you understand, and place the BUT and go into the positives. Even glamorize the reasons they’re apprehensive, say “in fact, some of my BEST clients are feeling what you’re feeling right now BUT they’ve gone over the hump and now their pupils dilate when they see my name on calling”

I really like this presentation technique because it feels more truthful and authentic. In a different way I've used something like this teaching my children how to apologize properly in a way that communicated sincerity. For example I used to hate when my son or daughter would say "I'm sorry for yelling at you but I was tired and in a bad mood." This makes it sound like "I'm sorry but it's not my fault." I told them to try something more like this - "I was tired and in a bad mood, but I apologize for yelling at you. It wasn't right." The second way shows, yeah I'm only human and weak sometimes and there was a lot going on, BUT still it was wrong of me to snap at you. The framing of things the second way made for a better apology, and made way for compassion for the person apologizing because they weren't having a great day. It shows a more magnanimous spirit. This sales technique is like that in that it's NOT JUST A TECHNIQUE, it is more sincere and helps gain trust.

This is something I used in dating and find it to be a game-changer. Be straight up with your potential partner and been the only one to put her in her place. But, the magic usual comes after, she becomes attracted over time because she realizes you can be trusted because the compliments, that follows, over time, are seen as real. This is called disqualifiers where you disqualify yourself in a way but give the other person a rare chance to work with you (making you the preseved expert on the topic and making your time more valuable then the clients). By making it hard to get to work with you your qualifying the other person flipping the power dynamic on its head. Now its them that are chasing your business because your the most preceived valuable person in the room in their eyes.

It only works if the positive is perceived to be much BETTER than the negative. If you say things that are really bad about something, and then put But, the good has to outweigh the bad for the other person. The sale only works if the person really sees the benefit you are trying to push. I realised in life that no-one owes you a damn thing, so they will buy because of what they get from it, not because of you. If someone doesn't want something, they won't want it no matter how nice you are.

I use to sell little stuffed bears for a company that over charged 20 times their worth and people actually bought them. I was their top salesmen because I told people they were donating money to a charity and they'd get a little stuffed bear as a reward instead of asking them to overpay for something. Now yes it's illegal but I did learn that you can sale anything as long as you word things just right. FYI don't use the charity scheme unless you can prove it lol

VERY interesting. way long ago when I took a course in psychology the teacher said that the most powerful word in the English language was BUT. He said if you ever hear someone say but, it is a clear signal that they don't know what they are sending and it means that everything they said BEFORE the word "but" is a lie. for instance you are called in to HR to discuss things and the HR person says "reports say you are a good worker and have accomplished many good things but we need to talk about your priorities withing the company. Erase everything before the but.....doesnt matter, doesnt count so understand where you are positioned with HR and be careful.

I've sold everything from magazines to futures contracts and the secrets to selling are, know your product, know your target audience, Know your competition, and be honest. Yeah you could lose your ass but you could also make a fortune. It's really not that hard. Knowing your product, your competition, and your target audience takes time and effort. Telling the truth ... well let's hope that's the easy part for you.
