And it's not from Neuralink.
Recently, Semafor received an extraordinary iMessage. It was from Rodney Gorham, a paralyzed ALS patient, and he had sent it directly from his brain. Gorham has a brain implant called Stentrode. Unlike previous generations of brain-computer interfaces, the Stentrode, from the neurotechnology company Synchron, can be implanted without invasive brain surgery. But... what are brain-computer interfaces? How do they work? And where is this novel technology going?

Outstanding video! Excellent narration, graphics and interviews. As a physical therapist, I highly appreciate the content. I’ve have 2 patients w/brain implants for Parkinson’s which have improved the quality of their lives. Now I understand how it all works. Thank you Semafor! It’s interesting that the patients in your researcher’s experiment developed a predilection for Johnny Cash!

Great video! Though I must say, these monkeys are not going to waste. Eventually, we need to move on to large-scale recordings from any area of interest. To develop that knowledge, animal experiments are crucial, and when we know, we can develop efficient BCIs to help patients.

This might have more potential than neural link. I like how much smaller it is than neural link.

What could go right? This is the kind of stuff dreams are also made of. Our minds are already a fucking mess now, and if we don't learn how to sort them out, we're screwed as a civilization.

This is great because people who can't move their body, and speak can control computers with their mind. @@squamish4244

It is. People with paralysis can now control computers. Some people have no way of communicating because they can't speak or move. Now they have a way to communicate with their loved ones. This can change thousands of lives. @@Christine-vt5fi

I have had bci implant for 31/2 years without my consent this has been used to torture me they talk about my past daily and smell taste and feel everything you do and can see your entire past I found out if you use a heavy magnet neg pull it will stick to outside of your skull I hope this helps someone going threw the harassment they will know exactly what I’m talking about we need to stand up together and fight this before they do it to our children that’s what I worry about they lie about numbers people that have them please get catscan if this sounds firmilar or mri it implanted in top and highlighted white in ct scan thank you

The project is great, but when will the Synchron chip be in the brain of healthy people, because I want superhuman ability and unlimited knowledge in my brain 🧠

OK I don’t know anything about BCIs, just arguing from common sense but Wow that was a lot of shade thrown towards Neuralink by that one guy. I’m guessing the “cold calculated engineering problem” was directed towards them. Neuralink just yesterday got FDA approval for human clinical study, and by then it’ll still be an engineering challenge and exercise more than anything, imo. Like of course patient safety is by far the most important, but this isn’t psychology, it’s developing advanced new technology. And you do that by demonstrating in animals first, what doesn’t he understand? Or are you only allowed to talk once you have done test with humans? If Elon Musk’s track record is to be considered his “science project” will most likely leapfrog anything this guy has worked on and will help many more people to a much larger degree. Everybody also laughed at electric cars and reusable rockets.

You couldn't be more wrong, synchrony is secretly ran by L3 Harris, their never going to tell you the actual capabilities. Musk started his thing to take the spot light off what synchrony has been doing, Neuralace isnt more advanced it's a modified copy basically...not gonna explain it here but hopefully soon the truth comes out.
