I drive up and over this pass every week, including the week that this happened. The truck on the inside was simply going to fast and lost traction. Slow down, you’ll live longer.

Definitely he was flying😂 You can slow and still lose traction. I was on I75 Kentucky and started sliding down the hill. With 10+ yrs experience i learned that when sliding, always try to get tires on the ripples of the shoulder it will help you gain traction most of the time. It helped me more than once.

Yuba Gap going over Donner? , never heard of Yuba Pass? on I 80?, empty truck going to fast, hit the brakes? Why? doesn't really look that slick, but it could be, could be too! Donner very unpredictable road conditions, used make trucks chain up all time when like this ,

I have to reply to this, I used go over Donner everyday sometimes, and your comment is typical for the motoring public that thing they should have complete right away on the interstate system, most of you believe you should be able to drive in any manner you seen fit, truth is your no better that inexperienced semi driver who wrecked. When i used go over Donner there were a bunch of anti- trucking people who used try and hit semi truck drivers while we were chaining up, had the CA HP arrest one who tried to hit me one time, while chaining up, moron did realize the HP was right behind him. There areas where semi trucks can not pass, and CA is a Right lane only state, if you completely stop truck from passing, the right will turn in a train, your interstate system will become 1 lane HWY .

@@hanswitt5840 you also have to realize when a semi passes even a regular size pickup truck on a day that it snows 6+ inches. The large tires throw probably 50lbs of snow off to the sides and onto the windshields of everyone’s cars. There is no reason to be going faster than the posted chain control speed limit. Maybe you can offer a different perspective but are the truckers just trying to get over the pass before they hit their allowed hours before a rest period is required?
