Sennheiser HD 201 Gaming/Studio Headphone Restoration/Teardown

In this video I restoring my old first gaming headset.
Changing some parts like headset cable, earpads and headband.

I have the same one but I can't remove the cover that covers the plate, it seems to be stuck with glue

Yes, that cover is glued on. But a little bit of gentle force you can pull that off.

I own the same model. Could it be rewired for balanced input? I purchased a Shanling UA2 DAC and it did wonders with the soundstage and details on my 7yr old HD 201

How did you separated the square parts?!?? They are glued tight in mine and I can't separate them not even with a knife!

Yes, it is really strong. I tried one of the corners and started working around. Try a thinner and stronger piece of metal or knife. But for your own safety !!! I used my nails but fortunately did not hurt during the process. So be careful!

@@ZephyrDavid I had to use pliers, that's how tough it is. Solved, but damn me if these are not built with programmed obsolescence in mind!

Yes you get clear & flat sound but not for gaming , no mic.. sound capture from phone,

Really accurate. It doesn't give the bassy intense gaming atmosphere tho. It's more like for studio use. But it's better than some expensive headphones that doesnt give you accurate surround sound
