Very cool idea. I will see if I can power amp from USB port. Do you have link to the DIY ports cover or did you just cut the slots on the shipping cover?

Hi. I drew it on a piece of paper after the original cover and then worked out with a dremel(rotary drill tool)!

Hi! I was wondering if you could help me. I bought the Acasom amplifier + bias tee and I was thinking to power up the bias tee with the USB port at the back of the Sensecap as you show on the video but since the voltage of the USB is 5V do you think it is a good idea to buy a step up convertor (5V->12V) for the bias tee or will it damage the Sensecap? Thank you and I’m looking forward for new content!!

Hi. I have some questions: 1) Why do you want to use usb port of the miner? 2) This amplifier needs 6-18volt? And how many miliamps? After you answer these questions, i can answer! PS: i think that Acasom amplifier needs always 12v300ma(3,6w) according to my research, wich translates to almost 5w constant from usb port(step-up converter efficiency...), wich i think that is too much(continuous)...

I want to use the USB port of the miner to power up the bias-tee because I will place the miner on an enclosure box powered by PoE and since I don’t have access to any near wall socket and the PoE splitter only gives me 5V 3A to power the Sensecap I think it’s the most viable way to get power for the bias-tee 2. Regarding the miliamps that’s a good question. I’m not sure how many miliamps does it need, on the specifications says “current supply: 300mA@Pout 30dBm 12V” which I’m not sure if it means that it uses 300mA??. Thank you very much once again for your help!!

@@alejandromonjeromero5946 you cannot take the power from PoE? How many volts you get from PoE?(before stabilizer to 5v) i think that you should power your amplifier from there with a step-down power supply! I would not use usb from miner to power a step-up converter! Or you can use a step-up converter from 5v from PoE! Sensecap doesn't need 3amps! I'm using a 5v 2.4a car phone charger to power miner and amplifier(AirBuddy needs 5v 720ma for tx and less than 10ma for rx) and i have no problems!

@@adaniel69 That is a good idea actually, maybe I could buy a 12V/2A PoE splitter and from there buy a car phone charger with dual 5V/2.4A USB ports, so I could use one for the Sensecap and the other port I will use for a 12V step up converter for the amplifier.

I cannot give you an exact answer since the helium network is not very stable, but i can tell you that i can hear and be heard at 70km away. Befor amp, 10-20km....

Hi. I don't really understand your question, but i replaced the original connectors on amplifier and filter! RP-SMA male on miner side and RP-SMA female on cable side! 👍

@@SKeverything3 with this amplifier i increased my range for RX and TX, from 10-20km to 70km! In my opinion, based on my very bad location(maybe you will see in my future video), it works! But i tend to believe that is better to use a saw filter between antenna and amplifier! 5.8dbi Rak antenna + 5m LMR400!

Before amplifier is on antenna side, like in video! Because RX way is from antenna(OUT port) and miner(IN port). I'm using the SAW filter to lower the amplification with 2-3decibels! Because Sensecap already has saw filter inside! 👍
