A very short but powerful warm-up to connect to your voice, release tension in throat, open your heart and chest-- great warm up for singers, public speaking and speaking your truth! Also very healing exercise for how to heal whiplash and neck strain or injury.
This is an excerpt from a whole series of lessons and exercises devoted to opening the chest and throat to connect with your voice, improve boundaries and vitalize your whole self-- inspired from the wisdom of the songbird family of thrush songbirds: American Robin and Eurasian Blackbird.
Annie Thoe is a Feldenkrais Teacher who uses Nature Awareness in her Feldenkrais online classes and lessons. This series is a very different approach to Feldenkrais voice training. Blessings to you and our songbirds!

Wow! It opened overtones I think I've never heard while humming. For a moment I thought someone was humming with me.

Hearing is the way our brain monitors voice production, including how is being produced (volume, tone, the emotions conveyed by it, vibrato, etc). But according to the organs that mechanically make the phonation, it is totally a motor ability. That's why I hace always thought tha Feldenkrais is despised and underrated for treating voice problems as well as voice awareness education for singing Great video Have you ever thought scout making a series of videos for voice "education" and singing? Or teaming up with a sing teacher to make a DVD for people wanting to sing? I think that as anyone we all have motor inteligence and we can improve our singing, standing, skeletal pains, etc; certainly that's not enough to perform better than Michael Jordan on the court but we all can achieve amazing improvements. I feel that in the same way everybody can sing WAAAAY better than they even think it is possible for them; and there is where I think Feldenkrais is the missing link in voice awareness, relearning (nobody teaches a newborn how to reach those high notes and loud volume with lunes and larynx 10 times or more smaller than any adult) and teaching. If you ever produce such a DVD let me know as I would gladly buy one and let everybody know about it. Have a crear weekend

@@pacojavo2978 Thank you-- I appreciate your comments. There are other Feldenkrais practitioners that work with voice performance who are also professional musicians. I am interested in working more with voice -- and will see how this unfolds. This current online series I'm teaching focuses on the voice. I'll have more videos coming and the longer video lessons are on Patreon.

I think so too. I believe this has similar medical effects like purring in vibrating the bones for healing-- would be a wonderful study.

if I may to make a command , As a prof singer and now voice teacher ,but alsi a Feldenkrais practitioner I gave and give workshops ,,,I never would recommande to inhale so strong through the nose I always start with an exhale ,as we always have 1/2 l oxygene in our lungs ,so first actif an exhale and then let come in air unvoluntary ,without working so much ,just waiting for Try it and you'll see ,it is avtiv and release like day and night Good luck and greeting from Paris

Thank you for this helpful comment! I agree about not trying so strongly through the nose. I like that you specify, exhaling first with awareness before inhaling to breathe through the nose. That is a very helpful hint, and I will use that in the future. Thanks so much for sharing and hope we can stay in touch.
