Hey guys! Have you heard of float tanks or restricted environmental stimulation therapy (REST)? There have been a lot of claims made about the health benefits of floating. Also, I've gotten some questions about them recently, so I decided to try it out for myself. I hope you enjoy, and definitely let me know if you want more videos like this in the future by giving the video a like and a share.

As a result I’m taking several of his suggestions: - I’ve started keto-not necessarily to lose weight (I need to lose a BOATLOAD, tho)-but yo control my A!C. - I’ve started the three nightly gratitudes. - I’ve checked out several apps. The Lifesum app is really good. I’m a fatty and I got the premium. Спасибо, Миша!

Great job, Dr. Mike. I was not expecting that you'd call out some of the false statements/exaggerations toward the end. I'm sure it's incredibly relaxing, and everyone could use some relaxation sometimes, but then it's mega-stressful when you get the bill! The freezing/cryo machines are even worse. They make claims to "cure" inflammatory conditions. If only... I agree with the person who posted on eating disorders. It would be nice to see all the behind-the-scenes work what make you look the way you do. Our vulnerable young people are chasing an impossible ideal. I know these disorders are multi-faceted and challenging to treat, but it's a start. You're doing a great job. Thank you!

@cassuttustshirt4949

We all float down here! It's a line from the book, IT. When Georgie Denbrough loses his paper boat down a storm drain and goes to retrieve it, he sees a clown with sinister glowing eyes in the sewer. The clown, (who introduces himself as Pennywise the Dancing Clown) offers him a balloon. Georgie asks him if it floats (Basically, if it's a helium filled balloon). Pennywise says it floats and that "We all float down here!" He refuses the balloon but reaches in for his boat. Pennywise rips his arm off and he does from shock/blood loss. Sorry for all that. I'm a huge Stephen King nerd, and IT is one of my faves. The Stand is wonderful, as well. Pet Sematary is delightful, I love how the main character slowly goes mad throughout the book. 'Salem's Lot is a joy, especially if you like vampires. I'd be better off listing the Stephen King books I don't like than the ones I do. Much shorter list.
@stacie7766

@@cassuttustshirt4949 Another great one is 'Sleepwalkers'. Oh, and 'Desperation', and 'Storm of the Century'. As well as pretty much everything he touches. I'm the same way as you... My list of books, and short stories of the ones I didn't care for as much, is much shorter then the ones I like.

@@stacie7766 Don't forget 'Misery', 'Under the Dome', or anything in 'Different Seasons' ('Apt Pupil' and 'The Body' being favorites), hahaha. The only Stephen King book I've ever started and didn't like enough not to finish is 'The Eyes of the Dragon'. I love fantasy as well, and he just didn't seem to be a good fantasy writer. It's been years since I tried to read it though, maybe I'll like it now. Have to put it on my reading list, I guess =)

Thanks for this video, I've heard so many things about the benefits of things like this, and a place like this opened up in the town next to where I work so I started hearing about it even more after that. Funny thing is, due to my fears of certain swimming pools/tubs this would do the exact opposite of helping me, especially being left alone in the dark in there, I almost had a hard time watching you through the video because of my fears, lol, so silly! Give me a bike ride alone in nature with nothing but animal sounds or some music on my iPod and that is my equivalent of this kind of therapy, I think it only makes sense that different people benefit differently so nothing works for everyone and you should do what works best for you! I also hate the supposed claims and miracle benefits of things and they usually make me run the opposite direction from buying things as a result. Haha, nothing can be that amazing! Another great video!

I tried once. The one I went into was an egg shaped capsule. Fully dark and quiet, you go in completely naked. Its amazing. It was really hard to relax at first, but after about half an hour I managed to relax completely and disconnect from physical feelings. Completely awake, but not burdened by any physical sensations. The most relaxing feeling Ive ever had in my life. I managed to reach thoughts and abstractions I never could before. Highly advisable. If you feel comfortable with yourself you will relax. If you dont you will realize that being alone with your cognition is not so bad after all. Maybe if you have panic attacks or some mental issues it may be scary, but otherwise its really beneficial experience.

I've been in a lower-tech sensory deprivation thing... It was just a box, really, and no water was involved. I enjoyed it a lot. As someone with Sensory Processing Disorder (all of my senses are super strong & get overwhelmed easily), I found it to be a nice little break. Unfortunately, they only gave me 10 minutes of lying in the box. It was technically somebody's art project, and it was free to experience in 10-minute intervals.

I love to hear you talking about more of your live, I mean like a 1week Vlog, or kind of a podcast of deeps learnigs you have had in your life, I really like your content, but sometimes I feel you only show only the happy and selling side of you and medicine. Even tho, you are doing an excellent job! hope Bear grows well and super big! Kissesss ^-^!

Such a cool thing to try. I could never do that because I hate being by myself. Thanks for sharing!!

I've always wanted to try this but found myself skeptical. Also I'm now considering going to med school thanks to you.

Hmmm now I'm curious! But I'm sceptical being with my own mind alone and relax out of it. Worth a try out. 😅

Must be full on, not only being a doctor but also keeping up on KZbin too, videos take a long time to make. Plus living and training, eating, sleeping, it all adds up.

I really enjoy all your videos! You have mentioned in some of your videos some ways that you prepared in your high school years for medical school, could you maybe make a video focusing on what things students could focus on in high school before they go to medical school so they are prepared?

This was interesting. I've thought about trying it, and I appreciate hearing from a real person who has done this. Given how expensive it is though I think a bath at home with a modest amount of epsom salt is going to be it for me.
